Okay how's this for advertising? "Hoarding:Buried Alive."

So this Sunday at 9:00 PM Burly Guys will be on "Hoarding:Buried Alive" on TLC at 9:00 pm. We cleaned out a home in Inkster Michigan back in December. This is junk removal rather than scrapping, but we have been talking about advertising on here.

The cool thing is they paid me to do this. Unfortunately, they covered the phone number and website on the side of my truck for the shoot. (Some contractual thing they have.) But my business name still shows up, both on the side of the truck and on the guys shirts.

My only concern is how much ends up on the cutting room floor!

If you get a chance please watch or DVR it and let me know what you think!

Nice I did a hoarders house in Nashville Tn....Took 3 40 yd dumpsters and about 20 truck loads....Plus over 10,000 lbs of metal....LOL took almost 3 weeks doing it between other jobs

lol mike, i almost bet i know who it was! A guy used to come around a place where i did a lot of work, he'd pick up anything! 3 foot long 2x4's, anything! I think he lived right off of elm hill pike, and fesslers lane, down that last little stretch of EHP, where it went by a cemetary, just before it hit murfreesboro rd, there was an old house in there with more junk and metal stacked all over at least an acre or two, i think was where he lived at, you could see it well from the freeway, like you was going from downtown, towards the airport

It was actually in Antioch off Nollensville Rd....I did a lot of property cleanup there not so much here in Knoxville so far

is Knoxville a port? I'm just wondering if it might not be a cleaner town, since Nashville has the port, and had lots of heavy industry related to that fact

Knoxville does seem alot cleaner which sucks for my biz

getting back to Burly's advertising topic, it just crossed my mind when coming back to this thread, how's this for advertising, i couldn't help but think it sure better than being on america's dumbdest criminals :) lol ( thought about it earlier, you said guys wearing tshirts, and thought, that's not advertising, needs some
gals wearing tshirts ;)

Anything I do today that offends anyone I am attributing entirely to solar flare activity.

When all was said and done most got put back into the house. We did take away about a truckload, although you can't tell by how much went back into the house. That being said, we never got to see how GOOD the house looked when she finished a few weeks later. I am very happy for Carol!

Also really happy about how our shirts looked, especially when compared to the guys on the other segment in the show. My guys rocked it and I am proud of them!

Your guys were awesome, BurlyGuy! I know it would of drove me crazy to pull out all of those items, just to turn around and put them right back in. Also if you don't mind me asking, what was up with the wicker basket ordeal?

I have always been curious about these shows. I watch the "hoarder" show sometimes. Did the show pay you for hauling away the junk and for being on the show or just one?

Just watched it now. Good job guys! Even got your company mentioned! This should bring you some more work. And that house did look really good good too. Congrats again.

i missed it but it looks like it's on again on the 14th so I'm recording that one. I'm watching the "where are they now" version of the show right now, lol

I actually had a conversation with my guys before doing the show. There were some things I knew would drive them nuts, and I told them: "You're job today is not to haul trash, but to promote the company. You will do a lot of standing around, and it will be boring and make you crazy when she can't make her mind up to throw something out. That is the nature of these shows. ALWAYS look like you are having a good time and if you aren't GET OFF CAMERA!"

The wicker basket was just one of those things. She told us to throw it away, then said that she didn't, then was upset that there was damage to an item she told us was trash. These people are overwhelmed when doing one of these shows. There are cameras and microphones in their faces, family members hovering with huge expectations (and not very patiently), and they are being asked to make decisions on the spot about things they haven't been able to decide on in years! It is a LOT to ask of them!

They paid me to have two guys be on the show, and not even enough for that. That being said, all of my guys wanted to be on TV so I brought them. Even with being paid it was a money loser, but I would have done it for free!

HAHA, but I guess hoarders see it way differently than a non-hoarder does. I ended up watching Hoarders all afternoon just because I had nothing to do, and this one hoarder wanted to keep a BROKEN picture because she thinks she can put the three pieces together and make it look like new again.

I figured they pay you to haul off the junk too.

I saw one hoarders episode..the guys property literally looked like a landfill. It was beyond crazy!

My mom is a hoarder. It's gonna be a treat and a half when that day comes to do a clean out.

Ok Man.. So my wife and I LOVE this show.. and we catch all the seasons that they put on Netflix as we don't have TLC on our cable package.. We were having a "Hoarders Watching Date night" last night and I saw the episode. Saw the shirts first.. I said to my wife "Burly Guys I know that guy" Then I saw the truck and logo blazing! I felt bad for all of you guys.. moved all that stuff out.. then Moved it ALL back in. Since this thread is a few years old.. and my catch up time on technology is apparently pretty weak.. Just wanted to give you props. As cool as it was for you guys to be on the show.. I think it was just as cool to see a guy and his crew on a show- just sitting down watching tv on a a Saturday night!

Ha ha! Thanks, Sledge! By way of an update, we only ever got 2 calls as a direct result of the show, and it cost me money to do it, but it was money that was well spent. It gives me a certain air of credibility in my marketing telling people we were on the show, and there is work we got as a direct result of telling folks about the show. I would do it again if asked.

Glad to hear you got some exposure from the show. I thought the whole thing was just a front to advertise 1 800 got junk, but I guess they do use some local contractors.

Actually, 800-GOT-JUNK is on Hoarders, and I believe they either own or sponsor the show. Hoarding:Buried Alive is a different concern and they always use different folks. I've never seen anybody but 800-GOT-JUNK on Hoarders.

Believe me I have watched somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 episodes and I'd say 90%+ of the time.. information on the hauler is fuzzed. At minimum they always fuzz the phone #.. but in your case- saw the shirts repeatedly.. and that distinct logo blazing on the box truck.. as well as I think it was the therapist who said "Can we get the Burly Guys to move this stuff back in" It was just really neat to see someone I "know" be on a show that I enjoy watching. Very neat!

For a fella that caught this thread late (both times) what is the name of the episode so I can watch it online or on-demand.
