searched the archives last night for about 3 hours, to try to determine what boards are what. some one needs to post a clear concise thread. explaining exactly what boards are what. I now have server boards mixed with mother boards. and hard drive and cd drive floppy boards all mixed together, because there seem to be some confusing info. would some of you e-waste buyers list what boards are what and what chips are what so us computer idiots can use it like a menu? thx.
I made a video on this I think...let me recheck on that.
But here is a good rule of thumb to follow.
If it comes out of a server then its server grade.
PCI cards are counted as server (for me) other buyers may want you to box them up by them self.
desktop motherboards are well just desktop motherboards they are not worth as much as server boards or pci cards
back plains that come out of servers are worth more than servers (in some cases) due to the amount of gold they have. I will have to take some photos and explain this better.
and low grade will be from power supplies and crt..they will not look like a desktop motherboard.
p.s desktop motherboard is what you would call medium grade server/pci being called high grade.
Cd boards are same grade as motherboards. Server boards are slightly better. Hard drive boards better still. Ram even better. CPU pinless are resell. Green fiber with metal lowest. Green fiber no metal better. Ceramic good. Ceramic gold cap better. Ceramic double cap high.

thx all. what is a server plain back board
the plain back board is a separate board that connects to the motherboard that other things plug into. Some servers have them to connect any PCI cards to (video, network, sound, etc...). Some have them for memory, and some have them for hard drives. I don't know if they all fall in the same category for ecycling or not.

Yes and no. If you have a large amount of them and or of other server boards box them up separate from the desktop motherboards and I will pay you a little more but you will need to have around 300# of server grade an it can be worth as much as 30 to 70cents more than desktop motherboards. I think I've discovered a way to atleast sort high grade boards from low grade boards... (I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this)...Please correct me if I'm wrong.
High grade boards are quite a bit more difficult to snap in half with your hands
Low grade boards are "brittle" and snap in half very easily.
I was wondering why the flat screen TV boards were so difficult to snap in half...So I tried some boards from a recent PC and they too had the same difficulty.
But a board from a CRT snapped in half very easily.
hmm..don't know if that be true or not...this is how I try to explain it.
If the board looks like a LARGE city with alot of things going on...it could be high grade
if it looks like the country side with really large things and alot of open ground everywhere...its low grade.
