Congrats on the haul , what’s your plan for the crt monitors ? I found a local place that will take mine after I gut them . How much do you love that taco ? They are great trucks !

Those Toyotas are really solid trucks. You should get way more than 150k out of her. A few nice loads like that and you'll wonder how you ever made do without it!

So going off that, it seems they SHOULD take even broken/gutted monitors (provided they are packed in a box? lol)
My guess is it is highly dependent on each individual store what they will/want to take. And even within the same store it could change day to day based on whos working, how much room they have, how busy they are, etc, etc. I'll just have to go and find out in person at my local one(s)! I am pretty hopeful that they will take them. First reason being, they have a contract with an E-waste processor, so it doesnt really make a difference to them (as a company) they just pass it along down the line, and second reason being that they get graded on how much "waste/scrap" they take back and "keep out of landfills" (in a ratio to what they sell). So they may WANT more bulk/monitors/heavy stuff to pad their numbers. For example, bestbuy advertises that they took back "over 2 billion pounds of electronics waste last year", staples/best-buy/etc may want to take back a bunch to make them seem as "environmentally friendly" as possible.
We will find out soon when I take them!

Unfortunately …. All this has come to a screeching halt as of the 1st if this year. We now have a $15 PER UNIT on ALL TVS and monitors, both fat screen and CRT. I had a good talk to the floor manager and they are now finding them mixed in the tip floor, mixed in with the rubbish. Seems ppl are not taking it well.

Yea I dont understand why they dont all take them free for drop off. The way I see it, people are either going to drive it there, and drop it off for free (where it is at least separate and able to be handled/recycled properly)... OR they are going to charge a fee and then people will instead just slip them into the trash bags, throw them in a random dumpster (or on the side of the road), etc....Quote:

People need free options to do things with their discarded items or it ends up becoming pollution, simple as that. Hopefully staples is our savior....
edit: I am not saying I would do any of these illegal or unethical disposal methods, I am just referring to "people" in general. I always properly dispose of everything, even if it costs an arm and a leg... prefer it free though obviously......
Funny thing is, I believe the big e-waste company that takes my local Staples stuff AND who is contracted by the county is one in the same.
Nothing is truly free.......Not sure your situation but here we pay both a city and county property tax as well as sales tax on every item we buy........no state income tax but everything else is taxed along the way
If your lucky and sneaky enough.... strip them out, leave that crappy circut board in it along with the vga cord still attached, seal it back up, put a peice of paper with "broken" on it, put out front and if your lucky...... Someone will take it. Ive done it a few times. But if no one bites... I have to wait till the once a year electronic drop off in town.
At least the crt monitors have some copper value compared to regular tv crt's.

Just FYI for anyone following along.... Staples took them. The didnt seem thrilled about it but they confirmed they DO take them. I said "Your website says you take CRT monitors AND I called earlier to confirm that you do...."... and the guy said yea just bring them in, so I filled 2 carts with them (7x 19" CRT and 1x 21" LCD) and left the carts by the counter where he told me and I was on my way.... I felt bad so I signed up for the free rewards program lol....
I did offer to wheel them back to wherever they take them and unload them and he said nah just leave them by the counter.
7 down, 8 to go... Ima wait a few days then go back with load 2. Hopefully a different guy working lol

I am certain it is NOT sustainable, bestbuy charges $25/monitor to take them... I do not know how staples can take them for free. But I suspect it will not last much longer. But while I can, Im going unload what I got/get!Quote:

Yea didnt have any issues, am going to take another 7 this weekend. My work has an electronics drive every quarter I think, but they stoppped taking tvs/monitors for free (charge a fee). So its staples for now until they quit taking themQuote:
