thanks to photobucket I can't see pics.....I can't even get the **** site to load for me and I know its not an issue with my computers
I'm pretty sure that was a sar-chasm you just fell into, mikeinreco...
cant see anything
give us a link instead
And despite the warning sign, another plunges...
The Ute Indians in the mountains of Colorado had a word for gold that translated loosely to, "Yellow metal that makes the White man crazy."
:winner:
Tried to post a link but could not.
Is it showing anything?
I can't see anything but messages saying "please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting"
Mike I'm having the same problem with photobucket. With the recent changes in their Terms of Service I believe people are scrambling trying to remove their pictures for fear of losing them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I cannot upload or download pics. I'm just waiting for all of my pics I've posted here at the SMF to disappear. It's already happening to peoples threads here on the forum.
I hope you're not using them for your ebay pics.
imgur.com seems to work fine for me.
You can always register for free blog sites too like WordPress and just leave the site blank and use a hidden post to host your pictures. They'll hold quite a few and no worries about 3rd party hosting
Another member had mentioned on another thread that other sites would be doing the same as photobucket. I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable fee because they are providing a service and I'm using it, but 400 a year? I don't think so.
The thought of hundreds of pics disappearing hear on the SMF makes me mad, especially pics from members who are no longer with us.
The sun sets on another great icon, this company will soon be eclipsed in darkness when folks refuse to pay $399.00 a year to host pictures. On aside note this will force forum owners to allow photos to be hosted on their sites or go down with the ship aka photobucket.

So SMF admin how long will it take to implement hosting capabilities on this forum. :)
IMO not going to happen anytime soon.
Speaking of some of the other forums that I belong to, its always been a stick in my craw when they force you to use third party image hosting which creates added work and effort on my part. I've been banned from a forum for deleting my third party hosted pictures because a forum owner was disgruntled over the broken links.
Looking at this from admin's side of the fence with this site being linked to additional accounts on twitter and facbook, what a mess.

Heck, I just post all my pics to my Facebook account and link them here. Eventually, Fb changes the address of the pic. But for the short term- they make their point and.. into the abyss they go.
I had started a thread with all my car scrapping pics years ago. Now all my pics in that thread are gone because of the link address change. But as I said- they made the point at the time.
Like I said before: free image hosting is dead. Rather ad-free free image hosting is dead. Your free pics will soon be swallowed up in ads that you can't control the content of. When hosts see that your image is linked only to a scrap metal forum, then your image will be wrapped in an ad most relevant to scrap metal. If the forum is gold refining, then the ad will be gold refining. If the forum is drunken tiddlywinks, then the ad will be .... well, you get my drift.
Nothing is free. Don't be mad that your host is gone. Take heart in the knowledge that what replaces it will be more viable.
we understand but im sure theres got to be a limit.
a point where even the owners of the site can see that users will never be able to see their pics clearly due to excessive ads,
so its obvious that they wont use the site anymore
hey, im just working according to the dictates of common sense- maybe they do things differently in the US
Uh...why not share via google photos? stored directly, can create albums and then link them publically for viewing.
The only problem I see with common sense here is that common sense doesn't equal $$$$$. I won't post ads with anything I do online but it also doesn't make me money. Why do you think Mark Zuckerberg is worth so much. Its all about the money not the CS. And now a days it seems like ad revenue isn't good enough, lets charge users and give them ads.
