That is the one I am wanting should I ever decidde to get one.
Be sure and let us know. My pile of wire needing to be stripped is getting out of control.
Mick, do you ever just bite the bullet and sell it as insulated ?
i usually HATE spending money, but i figure this will help me make more money, and pay for itself after a while, ill get it. I found that stripping wire by hand isnt worth it, but with this it makes it look so easy. Im hopefully ordering it tonight or tomorrow.
I hate to start another thread so ill just ask here. does anyone know what this is and a guess on what it weighs? i found it in the woods the other day

looks like farm equipment, or some kind of weird cage.
just placed my order. should have it by the 5th
That would be my guess, or some kind of thatcher. I vote for thatcher.....and not Margaret.
Actually it would be a dethatcher. That looks like the daddy to this little guy.

whatever it is its heavy! and hopefully will be mine soon :)
I have the exact same on. My wife bought it for my birthday. It works great! Takes a little getting use to when setting the depth of the blade. Much better then my old way with a utility knife. LOL
Thats what i was hoping :) the utility knife way sucked! i stripped 35 ish pounds of it and i had over 15-20 man hours into doing it. should make my life 10x easier especially with all the wiring ive been getting lately
and thanks parrothead, it does look exactly the same. id actually call it the great grandfather of that one though lol
i purchased the same stripper about 3 months agi, and i have a hard time with it in the beginning... this item could have a little imporvment... the wheels that tighten the wire are of center the blades they give you are nothing special,,,, to be honest i should have saved some for cash and purchased the one that another guy is selling on ebay small silver one you can attach to a drill press. i thik i will make that purchase soon, because this one helped but it could have a little better in my honest opinion... good luck with it.
Jersey, too bad you didn't realize it sooner or you could have sent it back for a refund.
We call that a "tedder" where I'm from, it tosses the hay up to turn it for drying.
Dang, that looks awesome. Been thinkin about buying one. I've got a ridiculous amount of dirty that is BEGGING to be stripped.
I found these to be interesting and made in the USA, but I didn't price them tho,,,

yeah i have 7 days to test it out and if i dont like it i can send it back
Anyone ever use one of these?

they looked like a utility knife blade to me. should have the stripper tomorrow and if i dont like it ill send it back and give the other one a try ^^ looks like a good idea though
If it takes a utility knife blade then give it a whirl. What is the cost on a unit?
If someone gets one that works really well, maybe we could negotiate a bulk deal with the makers of either one of them. The BBQ group I belong to is so big that we have had nice negotiated deals on several items throughout the years. We would need to ba a little larger though to make any kind of deals like that.
i saw $75 on ebay. it looks more like a $25 tool to me...but i guess i wont judge it till i try it...right?
so far im really liking it! its harder on the smaller wires but on the big stuff it zips right threw it! not trying to pick it apart but i had a hard time mounting it because my bench corners dont stick out. so i had to nail a small piece of wood to my work bench and then drill a hole threw the wood, then mount in there...

What's the smallest wire it'll take? And will it work with stranded as well as solid core?
i tried christmas lights (not sure on the guage) and i had a hard time doing it, but im sure if you lined it up JUST right it would. I only had christmas lights and solid core to work with right now. it cut right threw the solid core no problem. ill try some stranded as soon as i can find some
I have that stripper. On my 2nd actually since I lent the 1st to a buddy and he liked it so much he bought it off me.
On stranded, I find it's best to set the blade to where it cuts most of the way, but not touch the wire, then pull it apart. Otherwise it tends to catch in the strands and makes it hard to pull through.
Agree with Idaho. Set the depth just right, it works great on stranded.
i put some inch thick insulated aluminum wire threw it yesterday that was all twisted and it actually did better then i thought it would. in some places it was actually cutting into the aluminum and the blade is still sharp.
