Sirscrapalot says good bye to a furry friend

As the title says, this post is a goodbye to a furry friend of ours :(. Sorry if it shouldn't be on the forum, but I figured it'd help me. So go easy on me mods, I'll remove it if need be, reckon off topic is the best place for it!

So most you all know I'm a dog kind of fella(the facemunchers are ok!) an that I got two facemunchers. One of which is my avatar. What ya probably don't know is we also had four cats. I say had, as the oldest, Sasha just passed away in my wife's arms. I never talked about the cats,cause well their cats an they never do any silly stuff. My wife has had her since she was a kitten, which means it predates me far as being a family member to my wife. Now I sit here an ponder back on the 7 years or so I had with her in my life, an realize I have plenty to share about Sasha. Such as her sneaky habit of breaking into the bedroom at night, an waking up to find her snoozing on my chest or on the pillows between me an the wife. From her snatching the bread as you make a peanut butter sandwich, to chasing you around cause she went psycho an had to be on kitty prozac. Heh. When we first started playing Guitar Hero, she would always swat at my wife when she would try a new song, her way of saying.."Hey do better or I'm gonna cut you!" Ha ha.

I will spare you all the rest of the tales I could tell about her, like putting teh dogs in their places, or being a surrogate mom to the other two cats my wife has brought home since we've been together. I will admit, part of me is being selfish, an just wants to keep those memories to myself. Shameful I know. Some details on Sasha, she was 12 or 13, she was a mackrel tabby cat with white socks. Probably one of the sweetest cats I've ever had the pleasure to live with. Just a great all around cat, an I'm going to miss her. She was a spoiled cat. An I don't regret a moment of it.

Now I'm sure your all like.."WTH Sirscrapalot is this sad over a cat? did he fall off teh cooler?" I sure am that sad. She's been in my life an family since the day I first met my wife. Her and her older sister Dusty(passed last year, so double hard for the wife) had to like me before I could take my wife out for the first time. Needless to say we hit it off just fine. ;) We don't have kids, maybe in the future but we don't right now, so our pets are like our kids. Those of you shaking your heads an calling me crazy..when you find a pet you bond with, you'll understand. anyhow..this is far longer then I intended, so I'll wrap it up.



In closing I'd like to put a poem I found, maybe some of you will like it, maybe some won't.

So sad for you, Sir. Our animals are our family too. My baby sister was a Siamese cat. Sasha was one of your babies. You and your wife gave her a wonderful life full of love and fun; of that I am sure. We all know how you feel, and we all feel for you.

I have had cats & dogs my whole life. When they are yours, they are special, and they really become a part of your life.

Sorry about your loss. Funny how cats have very different personalities. We lost a cat last year. One of the funniest we ever had and he's still missed.

Even my dogs are sad, how crazy is that? I think they secretly enjoyed her chasing them around the house.

Not my nature to post such things, so thank you for understanding, hopefully I won't be posting any like it for a good long while. Doing so did help tho, oddly enough. It's going to take me abit to adjust tho. she was a big presence in the house. Again thanks for letting me share.

Sorry for your loss. It's amazing how attached we get to our pets and how much the become a part of our lives. We got a kitten almost a year ago - and while I was reluctant to the idea the wife and kids wanted it so of course I submitted. Now he has become a part of the family and a true companion.

Real sorry to hear sirscrap. I know all too well how it feels to lose a pet. They become family, iv had my lab for less than a year and I love him to death. Our family dog that we lost two years ago, we had her from a pup, for 14 years. I'll admit iv never been that upset before it my life.

Yes they do have a funny way of becoming more attached then you thought they would.

anyhow, going to take a friend's advice an go take a walk on the beach with the facemunchers. It's going to be in the 70s an will be a nice way to enjoy the day. Going to be weird going down the stairs an not hearing that meow at the window as I walk by it. thanks again folks, glad I'm not the only one who sees them as family. I feel less weird, or at lest in better company. ;)

So with that said, I'm gonna go heed said friends advice an get a a walk in with the pups, an get some work done.

Its never easy losing a pet. For most people they are a part of the family. I've had to say goodbye more then a few times, so I know how it is. I hope you and your wife take comfort in the memories you made and knowing that she'll always be a part of you.

My cat Montague, born on my birthday, died last year one month short of turning 20. I still see him out of the corner of my eye in his favorite spots around the house, Peace, SirS.

Sorry to hear the sad news, Sir S. My wife and I have three furry kids, a pug and two cats. Yes, they certainly are family members. Our older cat is going on 15. He's still pretty much the same as he was 12 years ago when my wife and I got together. Maybe a bit fatter and lazier, but I wouldn't want him to be any other way :) Our younger one is 1 1/2, our daughter rescued him as a starving, abandoned runt. To see him now, you'd never know it.

Sasha had a good, happy life thanks to you.
