dropping your phone while exiting your car

i jsut got an iphone maybe 3 months ago and i knew it would soon die due to this. today was the day.
err well just the screen cracked

do you guys have any mind tricks to keep yourself from doing this? what the **** can i do? this is the only way ive broken phones. i dont really have anywhere to keep my phone other than my crotch
falls out of the cup holders
dont want it flying out an open window when held on the dash,
wont fit in the little center console cubby thing
and if i set it on a side seat it falls through the crack behind the seats.

Otterbox case. I always used the defender series. Now with my iPhone 5 I picked up an Otterbox Armor case.

I had this happen to me once. I had my phone on my lap and got out to check the mail. I heard it hit the groun but I didn't realize what it was and I didn't see anything on the ground since it was dark, but I got the mail and then drove the rest of the way up the driveway. I couldn't find my phone later and then I realize what happened. I went out by the mailbox and it was laying on the ground, crushed because I ran over it.

Anyway, if your only issue is the screen is cracked I think you can just get a new screen and get it installed. I know there are places around here that can do it but my brother replaced his vibrate on his iPhone 4 and it was fairly simple.

I had this happen to me with my first "smart" phone.. I was towing a car with a dolly for the first time ever, got out to check on it, phone was on my lap and I didn't notice.. got out and dropped it on the ground during a rain storm.. got home, couldn't find it anywhere, drove all the way back to where I got out and sure enough it was sitting in a puddle, still on. It was in the Ottor Box Defender case, and it had been ran over a few times, but surprizingly still functioned for a couple months (with some quirks).. other than this one time my phones only die one of two ways - I drop them in the toilet or I throw them against the wall because its no longer working (So maybe it was already dead before hurling it into oblivion)..

, I have watched several friends do this whole phones and other more fragile items as they were exiting the car. I find it best to just wear a sweater or a coat with pockets.. and I always keep it in my pocket. Just remember to zip it up if you have to climb under a car or else you will lose it.

My wife just got a dash pad to hold her phone. I was skeptical, but it really worked. It looks similar to a small mouse pad and the phone sticks to it quite well. I couldn't use one because of all the dust I get in my truck, so I have a belt clip that mine snaps into. That works pretty good, but I agree with and have an otter box.

Lifeproof. It's an indestructible case.

If there is a Jax Car Wash near you, they sell a rubber insert that goes into your cup holder, which has a slot to fit your phone. Works perfect for an iphone sized device.

the pad is $3 and it helps a lot. I put it on the dash board. Just make sure to leave it face down to charge during the day in the sun. Until they come out with a phone-on-a-rope I am always looking for something to help me not break my phone.

Phone-on-a-rope......you can develop and sell it. Just send us some royalties when you make your millions. Make sure the rope has wiring for a mic and earbuds.

Funny you bring this up. Overthe last 2 weeks. I dropped my S3 in the snow while shoveling. Found it in the road in a tire track. Than i lost it while at my housing areas dumpter. Thank goodness for tracking programs. Had to do a true dumpster dive and dig it out after being compacted. Still works justmy case is cracked! Definatly dont need to be buying a new phone before x-mas. I have an trident ams krakken case

Otterbox defender is way to go. Comes with a protective screen and a belt clip as well. Check amazon and you can get it for a decent price. Screens can be replaced on the phones but gonna run 50-85 bucks

Have the I phone 4,life proof case and drove over it. Glass was shattered but phone still worked,with issues though. Had it repaired fo 89 bucks. These fragile phones will be forever breaking...

Kbob isnt the lifeproof case also water tight?

yes the lifeproof cases are water proof up to I think 6 feet. I have a lifeproof case and have thrown my phone across the room where it was basically rolling on its ends (no cracked screen) have held it under water (no leaks).

i do this atlest twice a day i never learn

hmm i hear this alot but never have a problem keeping my phone safe in a holder or pocket and the holder I made from scrap that is up out of the way and easy to reach and see while driving to be a little safer

on a side note in this business at least there plenty of parts free or cheap lol

Learn how to replace screens.

Don't buy expensive phones that break with a simple fall.

Buy a protector case for your expensive phone that falls.

Switch to a phone that can take abuse.

Learn how to fix your own screen...if you can't do that, just send me a PM everytime you need a phone. I got plenty of Iphones I'll gladly sell you if you can't follow tip 1 - 2.

One word that solves all of those problems: Otterbox. Best investment I've ever bought for my Iphone, plus the warranty is awesome. I've already had one replaced for free, and the second is going to be sent out soon.

Cleaning up a snowstorm today and saw something resembling a phone go up the snowbank. when i checked it out it was a customers iphone. The owners weren't home so i left it on the porchlight next to the door but it was pretty mangled broken screen full of snow kinda "bent" i guess the word would be. It had one of those tough cases and I actually think if it were not for that case the phone would have been in a couple hundred pieces. Felt real bad because they are nice people.

I am not sure about Lifeproof cases, but I have an Otterbox Armor series. Dropped my iPhone many times and no issues with it. Plus the case is waterproof and everything. I bought a lifeproof case and had my phone in it. Phone was sitting on the seat next to me and some jack*ss in front of my decided it was his turn a little bit too late. Hit my brakes and the phone fell onto the carpeted floor of my truck and ripped the screen of the case wide open. Made a u-turn and it was back to the store for my $100 back.

Didn't know otterbox had a water Proof case. I thought they only has a water resistant case.
