SCORE! Bet that thing kicked your backside having to move it, but rock on!
Congratulations on the score.
If you don't mind me asking....what is something like that worth?
I see one on ebay for 5k!!!!!!!!!!! Probably unrealistic to get that. This one sold for $600 IBM as 400E Server 170 V5R3 9406 170 2291 3D3RM | eBay
Nice score!
Nice score...bro. :p

VOG...not sure the value yet. Still going through everything. It appears to have all the original disks and manuals, as well as an upgrade, with all the disks and manuals.
scrapping...yea, I looked at all the sold listings and saw the 5k one. I think they are dreaming at that, for sure.
Sirscrappydoobydoo pass me sumptin from da cooler. Medicinal purposes... ;)
I may be better off trying to sell of the software, manuals and some of the components, then scrap the rest. Or is it the >:) side of me wanting to TEAR INTO THAT SUCKER!
I wanted to mention that I have used a local company for shipping large items. They palletize/crate and ship. They even pick up if I need them to. They get really good shipping rates, so even with the extra charges for packing, the total is usually still less than me shipping it out myself. Maybe something to look into for those larger items people are hesitant to list on ebay.
Awesome score btw..would hate to have to break it down to pieces.
Haha I hear ya. Last week I got an old HP hard drive. Weighs 200lbs. Kinda want to take it apart, but I'm seeing if I can find it a home first...I'll give it awhile. It's easy to move around, it's in a case on wheels. I do use it as a table :)
It sure is purty.
[QUOTE=BroJer;But... if there is no movement by the first of the week...BAM BUDDY imma gunna tear dat thang downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn[/QUOTE]
If/when that happens perhaps you could take a few photos for those of us not likely to ever get one, Mike.
I've shipped a number of things on pallets, and it really wasn't difficult at all, nor very expensive. I'd simply palletize it right in the back of my truck, take it to the terminal, and they'd take it from there with a forklift. I could get it within a few miles of anywhere, and they could pick it up there. One, going from Nashville to Vancouver BC Canada, the place just had it delivered right to their dock, and said in their feedback "you should be commended for your crating skills" ; )
This would be pretty easy peasy to get on a pallet and ship. I mean, for the right CHA CHING, I will personally deliver the thing!
BUTT I STILL! WANNA! RIP! IT! APART!!!!!
and if I do, Bear, I will be sure to take plenty of pics.
LOL Brojer.
Please do take pics if ya break it down.
The GOLD Compels you!

I am not sure if it is LOVE o:)... or LUST >:)
If you were drinking out of my cooler, hell it could be either, or an unknown!

Sirscrapalot - You, yes, you.....YES YOU! are AWESOME!
One thing to remember...and I reminded myself today vhecking ebay prices on about 20 servers I got for free...MANY times the price you get by selling the parts is more than the whole thing will bring. For I stance one server sold.similar to mine for $125...well hot.swap power supply, motherboard and cpu, hars drive caddies, even the front faceplate added up.to like $175 and I still have the 1u rack mount case I cpuld sell or scrap. So look at a parted system too to see if the upside is better....easier to ship too.
Sniff Sniff...it is a sad, sad day. The autopsy on the IBM Server ... will begin later today. RIP! (Recycle It's Parts)
It has served it's people well, and has donated it's usable parts, to ongoing research, and the support of "Jerry's Kids"! What a generous and selfless final act! To have it's appendages RIPPED apart, possibly saving the life of an ole distant cousin, in a foreign land. (thanks to fleecebay)
To be converted into prime rib and baked taters, whereby the Bro and fam will yet eat yet again, for another day! prolly a week!! Maybe some shrimp, too!!!
We will let you know the final details of the visitation and resting place. (how much we make off dat sucker) sniff sniff, It's a sad, sad day. #immagointohellforlying
and this is a secret message ... to a secret few. the packages...with the "stuff" ... will get out this week! They may, or may not, include a Sirscrapalot Secret Decoder Ring. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...irringcopy.png
I have been at my daughters, in Indiana, since last week. She is at home on IV fluids, and a line to her stomach, for nausea meds. She is pregnant with #3 and at the doc as I write this. She is in the 2% who have 24/7 morning sickness. Not able to hold down even ice chips, which led to severe dehydration and an ER visit, then home care!
So, I am back home for a few days, before I head out there again, to help with the gran-kids. Will make sure and get to the PO!
best of luck on your sales Bro, and best wishes for you and your daughter
Warning!!! Graphic images below!!!Was not able to get it all completed. Will post pics of the boards and whatnot when it is done.

Had a lot of interruptions. My daughter may have to have a PICC line put in.

They made 4 attempts to get an IV back in tonight...with no luck! So, keep Christina in your thoughts and prayers!! tks
Well, here are the skeletal remains. Sevices were held yesterday, at approx 12pm, eastern standard time. The final resting place is River Metals Crematory, State Ave facility. sniff sniff
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ohl/server.jpg
And yes, they were just as surprised as you, that I had that entire pile, in the back of my truck :p
Christina did have to have the PICC line put in yesterday. They had a real hard time with the procedure. Will be heading out there again early am to take care of her and the grankids. So, I have not had a chance to takes pics and inventory everything that was removed. I can tell ya this, there was less dust and dirt in that thing than my desktop! It was really, REALLY maintained well. AND OHHHHH dem boards and what not is soooooooo purdyyyyyyyyyy
So far, I have made 130.00 off the steel and lead acid batteries. That is all I have had time to get done. Did squeeze in a quick haul Tuesday. 20, 22in flat screens in pristine shape, 12 desktops of which 5 or so will get re-purposed and misc stuff.
Off to bed for the Bro and to Indiana in the morn. More to come as things calm down with Christina. FAMILY FIRST!!!
lol, must say it did make me blush.
and how you ever got all that steel in the car amazes me, very tight packing :)
I see you off loaded a tyre up top of the heap, you should of hidden it in a fridge and is that catatlytic convertor right on top.
man, you really should read more threads ;)
Looks like a shredder pile to me. I think he just added to it,,,
Yeah I think your right.
is there a scrap yard picture thread? i'd love to see all different scrap yard pictures from all over.
I don't think so, but a few of the members have posted pic's of their favorite yard.
Here's mine;

There is a baler right behind the big crane. He picks the lighter stuff out of the pile and bales it.

Here was another yard about 30 mile away, nice clean scale.
