ebay restricting magnet sales now :(

I just tried to re-list a small lot of hd magnets and got this message from ebay... sure glad big gov' is looking out for us :rolleyes:

I actually stopped carrying a magnet in my pocket, didn't like having my pants jump every time get near metal, haha

Figures just when I was about to put up a listing of these. I'm glad to see our government is so concerned for our safety :rolleyes:

just another unintended consequence from our brilliant do gooder regulators and overseers. the list is endless and getting bigger every day. most have never seen a HD magnet and have no idea what it is.

back when I was in the concession business. I owned a hot dog stand, among the concession stands. I wanted to serve fried bologna sandwiches (very popular down here) along with various hot dogs. The Florida department of business regulation would not let me, even though the FDA considers hot dogs and Bologna the very same meat with the very same recipe. I fought it for over a year and finally just got rid of the cart. just one more small business they don'tt have to contend with or collect taxes from.

Interesting. I have not had any of my HD magnet sales pulled yet.

Call me a jerk, but if you are dumb enough to swallow something like this, you deserve what you get. If you can't keep an eye on your 2 year old long enough to stop them from eating one, you are a bad parent.

I would try and relist them. I see several lots that have been listed just as of today. Just a fluke that yours got caught up in the dragnet. May have used some key word in your listing that flagged it.

How your sales going parrot? Might be getting another bucket for you soon

That's crazy. If you swallow tacks you'll get hurt too, you can still buy those on Ebay. I find it funny that the government (or anyone) is restricting the sales of an item because "you're not supposed to eat it, and people are eating it". Lol that is honestly absurd.

If 15 people a year start swallowing dish washer packets and getting sick or dying, will they stop selling those too?

What are you listing with? ebay site? mobile listing app? turbo lister?

listing directly from the site parrot. from my laptop. I tried changing a few words in the title.. from super magnets to HD magnets... added permaloy brackets.. still denied :)

maybe "Neodymium Rare Earth Super stickum to ferrous meatals thingys with brackets" :lol: I wonder if it could be key words in the description as well?/

I would assume that it is something in the description.

I use turbo lister for listing stuff. It is great.

It's not just 1 that causes the damage. It is when a child swallows several at one time or over a course of time. They can suddenly snap together in the digestive tract causing internal injuries and in most cases death.

But i agree with you. If you are a parent you protect your child. Placing plastic plug things over outlets, cabinet hooks, ect. You don't leave dangerous magnets at toddler level.

Might as well leave a loaded hand gun on the table.

I just tried to list a small lot this evening. Blocked. Changed wording in the title and description. Changed category. No dice. I see listings but have no idea how they are making it up

Ok, why would a young kid be on ebay.. when You've to have an acct.? Don't parents check up on there kids... I think this is foolish...

The keyword Magnet probably got banned on ebay.. so list them as Mag - Net From HDD.. and You should be ok. Good Luck..

Just sold a listing with "Hard Drive Rare Earth Magnets" in the title and body of the listing. Had to pull the word neodymium off the listing to get it to take.

I got mine to list by putting a single space in the title.. "mag nets"..:rolleyes:

that won't show in any search for magnet though

i sold 2 lots this last week. Magnets dont make that much money but definetly help the bottom line. And i need $300 in sales just to cover my monthly overhead costs.

Gat the "call" from fleabay today.. "Your auction has been pulled for listing violations" We o not allow sales of recalled items..??? I tried to explain "these" were not 'recalled' items, and was threatened with account suspension. :p

I have a solution! You can make a pet vest for rednecks that like to keep their coon hound in the back of the pickup. Just get a doggie vest large enough to fit the animal and sew on about 100 magnets. The dog will be sure to stick to the side of the pickup bed when the driver has to make sudden stops to pickup roadkill (or scrap metal). Actually, you can walk the dog down the street wearing the vest and all the scrap metal will stick to the dog so you don't have to stoop down to pick it up.

Crazier things have sold on ebay so you never know ;)

When my then 18 month old daughter opened a childproof bottle of liquid Tylenol the ER staff told my wife the same thing. Well, first they told her her explanation was impossible. When she told them to give our daughter a bottle she open their childproof device also. That is probably what kept CPS from visiting. Now it would be nice if my wife were a good and perfect parent but I will continue to love her as the imperfect human she is.

The good news is that my daughter spilled way more than she consumed and there was no harm or injury. BTW my daughter is now 28 with a 2 year old of her own. Yeah, they are quick little buggers. Faster than you think.
