Giving everyone the heads up i just got back from my place and new numbers are in. Tons of price drops this week in all categories. I'll wait and see if the forum buyers change up here soon as well.
What's the reason they gave you for the drop?
No idea im lucky to hear if my checks got shipped out. usually they are about a week ahead of people on the forums. then i find out why the sudden drop.
world buyers are all pulling back with the possable exception of Turkey is the info I have. All countries who depend on us American suckers buying their junk, are acared. they dont believe the msm propaganda either.
Sorry Dune I'm a bit slow today, you are talking about ewaste correct? if so, it looks like gold futures are being forecasted as going as low as $1550 to $1560 in August which will cause a hit in the ewaste market.
Figures I just bought 128 towers today at $4 per.
many economists (who cant get on msm because they dont spew the party line (either party by the way) say some time in 2013/14 it will be impossable to hold the world economy up by printing fiat/counterfit money and gold will double and silver will quadrupple, I dont know but looking at all indicarors and history it looks to me they may well be right.
Gold at price means the dollar will be useless.
Thats what happens when the "world leader" is based on monopoly money (printed at will), with a gold reserve that might or might not exist(Fort knox)
O im gonna have a long talk with someone in a few hours........
Ok Anyone else see my line of reasoning on this wording.
"Please see attached price sheets, effective immediately for materials that have not yet been shipped."
Now materials to be shipped would imply customer to collection dock. (Meaning that if you have been waiting for payments starting in the beginning of the month, they would be locked into the price list of that date it was delivered.)?
Not from Collection dock to main facility.
(Material not paid for but is waiting on shipment to main facility will now be paid for way less the prices agreed on at the time of receipts.)
----I know that nothing has moved in over a month and a half and people have been paid for the materials at full pricing. Last one i know of was delivered 4 days before my first drop off.
--------In this train of thought only 2 vendors will be covering the shipping cost of over 40,000lbs of material and payouts will greatly be lower. (I am one of them........)
Because their policy is that you deliver sorted material, they have to lock in the prices on the day that they recieve it in. Doesnt mean they will, but ISRI guidelines dictate that once its recieved it is a contract. They can downgrade and upgrade material but the prices are set..If material hasnt reached them yet then the prices will be changed
I got a bad feeling about this......
The material is at the collection center down here. totally out of my hands and i know that its just sitting in the back of the warehouse.
What kind of weight are we talking about?
5000lbs valued at $3436.51
So even though you delivered to the facility and they have possession of it they are not going to honor the prices that were in place when you delivered? Or do they send material after you delivered to the other facility and when it gets there that's when they considered it delivered.? Sounds a little screwy if that's what they do. If they take possession of it then I would think that they have to honor the prices when you brought it in. Do you have a dated receipt from when you delivered it to them?
So even though you delivered to the facility and they have possession of it they are not going to honor the prices that were in place when you delivered?
---Not for certain but wording of the email could be taken that way. Im waiting for the higher ups to get to work, different time zones. I have spoken to everyone at the facility and are fully aware of the situation.
Or do they send material after you delivered to them to the other facility and when it gets there that's when they considered it delivered.?
---This was the answer i was going with at the time to justify a 2-3 week payment period. Also prices have dropped before on my shipments (kinda hard waiting for 2-3weeks without that happening) and the receipts from them match what i should have been paid but weights on the ticket are changed around to make up for it.
Sounds a little screwy if that's what they do. If they take possession of it then I would think that they have to honor the prices when you brought it in.
---mmhmm thats what im hoping i get told in 30 minutes.
Do you have a dated receipt from when you delivered it to them?
-----Yup and the correlating price list stapled to the receipts for the drop offs.
I would think that they have to honor the pricing you were given a receipt for. I consider that when someone takes possession of materials it is considered delivered. Not my problem if they get back logged, items get lost etc. As long as you have that dated receipt ANY business that wants to keep its good name and rep has to do what is right and honor what was quoted. I will tell you this, if they don't I would be looking for someone else to do business with. Good luck keep us informed.
This smells of no good to me. This isn't right. Material was delivered and weighed and a certain price was expected, there is paper work to show for it and I believe that is a valid contract. It nowhere says on the paperwork that it is a price quote and prices are subject to change. For this to drastically change because of a company wide overhaul and to effect things already weighed in is a huge F-up. It should be in effect for items dropped off from now on.
I can say this, hopefully everything goes well or else this said vendor is never getting a single thing from me again, and whatever happens to the prices isn't going to matter to me anymore. Hopefully this all gets figured out. I know there is quite a few people with material turned in expecting pay outs, or have they already been paid?
All but 2 clients have been paid.
Talked to a Rep going through the motions.
MODERATORS Please remove the vendor name from this thread and info pertaining to the email
-I kept the info out on purpose and not action has been set in stone yet so there is no reason to cause bad reputation at this point.
since there is little morality left in business these days ('It's not personal , It's just business") I'm not sure what they will do, you have a receipt for material delivered with a price on it, that would seem to be a no brainer. But these days I'm not sure, they may think they have wiggle room, since the facility is not an actual final destination but just a collection point.
When I talked to them I didn't feel comfortable with them. I got the distinct impression we were all small potatoes to them, which in fact may actually be true, but not something you want your customers to feel.
I.m bleeding thousands here waiting on these servers and hard drives.
Issue has been fully resolved and checks are ALL being sent out this week.
I went thru and removed my posting completely with the Email and went on thru and took out their name and the "Florida" reference in the other postings. I hope this is what you were referring to, let me know. Also your PM box is full so you might want to "trim some fat", lol Mike
Glad it worked out for you Dune.
Ty mike. The whole situation is screwy to say beyond belief. Just glad Im getting paid and contracts are being honored.
The above post is why i absolutly refuse to ship ewaste. I deliver it to my local buyer and he hands me cash.I could get more if i shipped but this way i have the last minute option of refusal. The other reason i sell locally is because my buyer provides LOCAL jobs to the community.I was born and raised here this area has been hit hard by the recession and jobs are few and far between. The almighty dollar should not always be the main concern.
Fordsix Im still buying locally :-p and all money made funds my bills :-p
The almighty dollar is a concern....I have a family to support etc and I can get more even after shipping than selling locally.......I bust my ass 7 days a week tearing apart nasty, dusty, old electronics and I want a fair price for my hard labor......I am strictly a one man operation and make a decent living doing this......Not saying I don't have bill collectors breathing down my neck for past mistakes but I'm going to continue to ship my ewaste until it becomes nonprofitable to ship
Cash in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
My understanding is price is locked in when it hits the dock. What I would be concerned is with the shark and lappys getting "complete" pricing one they receive it, I'm seeing a charge-back looming. Hope you sent a lot of pics and kept all communication.
Fordsix; Not everybody has an e-waste buyer localy or within driving distance. Your lucky you have a good buyer near you that I have also used even though it was about 150 miles roung trip for me bacaue the stuff I had was not worth shipping. I have also driven to Dune's place with e-waste and that was about 200 miles round trip. But to get the most money for high end e-waste I do ship to buyers on this forum.
Everything we turned in as complete was complete. You missed the 200lbs of incomplete in the back of the warehouse we brought in previously. And the server had hdds and power supplies and was fully functional it dont get more complete then that. Not worried about it in the least. Now what day my check gets here next week does make me wonder.
Sorry if some of you got the wrong idea from my post.I was merely stating what i do and the reason why.I probably was somwhat confrontational because a deal i had about 6 months of effort into just crashed. One of the great things about this country is that we are all free to do bussiness as we see fit.It was not my intention to ruffle any feathers and i apologize if i have done so.
Nah whole situation is just going to piss me off till i get paid.
You might want to hold your high grade for a bit, working on a deal you guys will like.
Whose deal is better.....
Lol was thinking the same thing. Unless the high grades going for 4$ a lb.
Well everyone on this thread. How is a big welcome to the scrap industry. Prices drop and everyone and I mean everyone covers there asses. From the brokers to the refinery or mill to the scrap yards. Grades change and so do prices at the drop of a hat. They don't want to lose a penny and neither do you. You are lucky they didn't just outright reject your loads and send them back to you. Then you are stuck with the material again and have to pay to ship it again. This is by far one of the toughest industries in the world. The sharks are circling are you gonna swim on another day or become a meal for someone.
Piston if they did I would have made more money and been paid the same day...(new buyer)...... The cuts were purely to keep open the terminals and make them viable. I got one part of a check. 2 drop offs still haven't been paid for.
And just like you said it is part of the industry, I mistook a very broadly worded email, suspect i would get my drop offs lowered because they hadn't been paid out. They have honored the prices for when the day they where dropped off. Then fact that the first shipment still hasn't been paid for means if i hadn't said anything i would be waiting on a payment some time end of next week hopefully. This market is to volatile at my level to sit on my hands for half the time it would have taken to get the material refined is insanity.
Ill leave that for other business models i got a good niche
