Football season.... Everyone is to busy watching the games while im out getting all the scrap (or at least most of it.)
I just gatta say "DA BEARS"
Never have never will.
Bah, you an Kz gonna be crying this season. :p
Proud member of Raider nation, an heckler of the Broncos. ;)
Grey, being a bears fan this might interest you..my old math teacher in high school was the brother of Mike Singletary. Or was a he a cousin, bleh either way..dude was cool, and had some fun stories he'd share with us, but trust me..you didn't want to be late to his class. Push ups an a glare from a dude his size was enough to make you not be late after that first time. One of my favorite teachers though. So I'll always have a little love for the Bears.
Sirscrapalot - Always enjoys the fall cause of football, but never has the time these days to watch as much as he used to.
SSA... I'ma give you some empirical evidence as to why dem Saints are better than the Raiders.
Saints colors are gold & black. Raiders colors are silver & black. Gold spot is $1313.50... Silver spot is 19.89... ergo, the Saints are 66 times better than the Raiders. http://imageshack.us/a/img7/4236/6bc.gif
In all seriousness, though, my favorite is high school football. I enjoy living in the DFW area, specifically Allen, with our infamous 66 million dollar stadium. (housing the Texas 5A division 1 defending state CHAMPIONS!) Bottom line, though, every Friday night there's a matchup somewhere within a couple hour drive of me that would be a state championship caliber game anywhere else.
Cheesehead here....
Here's an open invite to a Yahoo Pro pick'em contest. It's free, no prizes, the more the merrier.
Pass it along to your other forums/facebook/tweeters/etc, etc

Well since I'm a New Englander, I gotta go with the Pat's. Despite their most recent guy in the headlines. Hope I get to watch more games than I have in the last 2 years.
Nah, College football is where it's at.
Boomer!!!!
Colts fan here.been one since johnny u... but i have to say the most die hard fans are raider fans. I used to be a service tech for a cable company here in indy got to meet alot of the colts all but marshall faulk were real nice charlie Johnson even let me try his bowl ring on...he said " go ahead put it on... I can catch you"
i bleed purple.
I like to keep up with the Packers, the Saints. I dont get to watch much as i used to,just to busy. And i just dont seem to have enough energy to watch all a Monday night game anymore.LOL
Bleed black and gold here
Green bay! Married into Wisconsin blood so I was obligated to be a packer fan
I married a skins fan...but even love can't conquer somethings..LOL.
Sirscrapalot - Sleeps on the couch a lot come football season.
Cowboys 100% all the way, good or bad season, life long fan.
I liked watching football, and playing baseball, that was the extent of my (outdoor) sports ; ) In the 70s was Cowboys all the way, Roger Staubach and Tom Landry. Tony Dorset came along, was a good runner too, but turned not to be as good as he thought. Staubach had been pulverized so many times he finally had to step aside(which he did rather gracefully) Danny White was a great QB too(if you ever looked at his stats, he made the Pro-Bowl a number of times) but after Staubach left, and Dorset thought he WAS the team, it all fell apart sadly, and White took a beating.
I didn't watch much, and for a couple years mid 80s was working Sundays and Monday nights and only had a few minutes glimpse of the Superbowl (when someone would sneak a TV into the break room)
I had lost interest in Dallas and followed 49ers Montana for a few years(had seen him do some really great drives against Dallas in the 70s), but they dumped him, and I watched him in KC awhile, I guess after they drpped him, I no longer had much interest in any of it.
Mid 90s while living in Nashville they got a team named the Titans, which perked my interest for a while, had a great QB in Steve McNair. Their first year there they went (I think it was) to the Super Bowl, played the closest game it had ever seen, ONE YARD away from winning, really great game, even though they lost, they returned to Nashville as heros. Then Nashville started cutting the roster to pinch a few bucks, and dumped McNair, and didn't even try to draft Peyton Manning, which together pretty much turned me off of them.
I'd catch Mannings game occasionally but had largely lost much interest in the whole show.
I've been in Oklahoma for 6 years now, with 2 stations...PBS, and uhmmm, PBS, which has no Football, ohwell, I don't really miss it, I've got my memories ; )
I Hear ya Bear. I still enjoy the game when I catch my team, or got the time to sit an watch, but a lot of it now a days is nothing like it was back in the 70s, 80s an even early 90s. To much me me me, an money. I still enjoy the game, but I don't kill myself to watch it anymore.
On a side note..an I should probably make a new thread...anyone else catch 14 baseball players suspended today, including old A-rod, an the Heisman winner is under investigation? Sports today are a lot like soap operas..LOL.
sirscrapalot - Football fan, but not a nut about it anymore.
One more fan of "Da Bears" here. Bears all the way!
Good luck to all the teams,I personally look forward to Sunday's Games.A little tip the dolphins spent this off season and in the draft they are the sleeper this year GO FINS!!!!!
Wait..you guys mean the Chicago Bears when you bears right? OR does Bear need to be watching out for his fans when he travels? ;)
Sirscrapalot - A Bear fan.
Not to really hijack but just a slight detour; When I lived in S.E. Kansas years ago, a CB radio friend of mine had his cable shut off as they were doing a budget redo. (him -his wife) He got tired of not having TV so he studied a ham electronics book at the local library and with a 7' piece of 1"x2" and some coathangers cut to length, ended up with a home made high powered TV antenna. I went to his house and the antenna was setting on his porch in a chair and he could pull in stations from Wichita about 100 miles away.Quote:

At first I thought it was a fluke but he picked it up and changed direction and pulled in stations from Kansas City, also about 100 miles away. Being that you play with electronics it would be an easy thing to make your own antenna so you wouldn't have to suffer with just PBS. Let Google be your friend,,,
I've studied those Mech, and they wouldn't be hard to build, think I saved some plans for it somewhere. I bought a satelite system in around 2000, and for a penny got a TV top powered antenna for pulling in local stations. In Nashville I'd get well over a dozen major stations on it, and usually wind up on PBS anyway ; ) Now it's in my attic, and I can get a couple network stations(from near a hundred miles), but seldom bother, maybe early mornin catch the today show news or something. Fact is Mech, most network shows don't interest me much
It is kinda tough being a Titans fan these days. I am skeptical about Jake Locker, but I hope he and rest of the team can turn things around.
College ball is my favorite. I'm looking forward to Butch Jones bringing the Volunteers out this way to Autzen Stadium and knocking the Ducks down a peg or two.
I enjoy local HS football the best. But I do live in kinda a special place for that!:)) My local team won the TEXAS 5A Division 1 (the BIG school division) championship last year in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. With a great group of returning core starters they are definitely in the discussion about who is the best HS team in the nation. I'd love to see a 4 or 8 team playoff on THAT!!! I think TV revenues would earn some VERY rich returns to the schools, too.
Next would be Pro ball, even with all the overpaid primadonnas, it is pretty entertaining.
College ball could be good, but I have a couple problems with it: ONE: it seems more & more like it's the SEC on one level, and the rest of the nation two or three tiers below them. TWO: Seems many games are utter blowouts & teams are compelled to run up the score rather than get their freshmen experience simply cuz they don't want to drop in the polls.
And Dem Saints whooped that Raider derriere last night!! LOL
23-0 with the starters and held on to win 28-20.
Preseason, I know, but very very promising.
I am a BIG nfl fan. Cant wait, GO SEAHAWKS!
Think back a ways, do you remember the "Black and Blues Brothers" era of the Bears?
I've still got an origional poster of them.

getting ready to root for the entertaining yet disappointing lions once again
I knew I felt a disturbance in the force...
An as you said...it's just preseason, lets see where everyone stands comes end of season. ;)
I'd like to see the Lion's do something, they are over due. If the colts can have a winning season after setting the bar for sucky back in the late 80s/early 90s..the Lions can pull out a good season.
Sirscrapalot - If the Saints win the super bowl do Xbox's everywhere get reset to try for a repeat? - ??
Big Blue fan here going back to the Craig Morton days...blehhhhh. I think we dumped him on the Broncos at some point and then we dumped on the Broncos a few years later. Sorry KZ couldnt resist:lol:
Life long browns fan here. Good, bad, or ugly I watch every game to the last second. In a way kind of amusing considering when I KNOW they'll lose. I can already here the people saying "Maybe next year.".
Lots of respect for you scrapping, its tough to pull for those types of teams year after year. When they win though its all the more sweeter.
