I live on a farm in northwest Illinois and I'm too old to want to do much more than get the place ready for sale. I have a certain amount of scrap to get rid of, one way or the other, First and foremost is an old 1960's caterpillar trackloader weighing about 18,500 pounds. It would run if I put in 2 new 12volt batteries at a cost of about 150 bucks. This I don't want to mess with. It's about worn out I believe. I also have some miscellaneous scrap, hayrake, dirt scoop, tiller, etc, Anyhow, I'm wondering what someone would give me for the dozer.

You might just advertise the scrap on CraigsList for a percentage and let the other scrapper do the work cutting/hauling, do a percentage of the daily scale/pay ticket from the yard. Other than that, if you try doing it yourself, then take some time reading about breaking stuff down for maximum value. Welcome,,,

What kind of Cat??

D4 7u trackloader built in the 60's. Last ran about 6 or 7 years ago, and ran good, except the right side steering clutch lever got harder and harder to pull, and eventually wouldn't work at all I called the Cat dealer in Rockford IL and talked to the service mgr. He said it sounded like a linkage problem, rather than the steering clutch going out. I finished up the job on the farm I was doing and never used it again.

You should sell it for parts, might get a lot more than scrap value. And the buyer will pick it up so you don't have to hassle with it.
