Anyone ever deal with docking stations? Are they worth the time?
There IS board in them but usually 1/4 the weight of a motherboard or around that weight. I usually give them away for free. too many screws and prying for me.
Arcoa buys them whole but I do not remember what they pay.
Yea I have a bunch of them just sitting in the garage. A lot of work for very little return. They have a nice board but small with a few gold connectors. If I get the time ill break down the rest but they are not my top priority. Don't get me wrong though, if it was the only thing I had to break down I would be on top of it.
It would be nice though to get a price of them whole.
I have a bunch of Dell docking stations in the garage. Along with the small board mentioned, the whole side leg support thing is cast aluminum and weighs a little over a pound. I think there are just a few screws on these as well. I was pretty happy with the effort vs. return.
We had a bunch of HP docking stations had to dump them a scrapyard but we did get computer tower price.
Arcoa pays .14 cents a lbs. for docking stations. Go to his web site and sign up for his price list by e-mail. You can find him in the buyers section of this forum, hope this helps.
