Forgive me for being a noob, but was wondering if the boards off of security panels were worth my time, there is one next to where I work and they are constantly throwing those things out. Tried to add pics but I am not allowed yet:(

If you have a buyer that you can bring the boards to yourself then all boards are worth saving. If you have no buyer and you have to ship your boards then only high grade and boards with gold on them would be worth it. my .02 cents. Not sure what you mean by security panels.
Photos are the only way to give a serious guess. Make a few posts and return with the phots. Your next post should be in the introductions forum. Its nice if we know a little about you and your back ground. Mike.
I had a security system panel from a bank once and the board had rivers of gold colored something on it, wasn't sure if it was copper or gold or what but it was sure fun to look at!
Those are lower end mid grade. The top one could pass as a power board.
And what is the price on these???....I am getting telcom price on these boards
Telecom? Wow is all I can say. Boards of that quality are around .30/lb to 1.40/lb. Those boards are mostly steel and fiberglass substrate. Very little recovered value for refining purposes.Quote:

I would say this is high grade telecom and the other boards in this thread a lower grade of this due to less chips.....I'm far from an expert just trying to figure all this out
This is what we consider high grade telecom. Notice the gold tracing and gold corner flat pack chips on the board.

That would be a server board for our purposes. There is some steel and other metal items on the right side of the board. Also most of those IC chips on the board are plastic not ceramic. Plastic IC's are little more that plastic and lead.Quote:

Mike no problem. The value is in the few ceramic IC's, looks like some gold plated connector ends on there, and also the amount of copper tracing found in the layers of the board used to connect all of the IC's. Remember we dont just recover gold although it is the main metal driving the value. The other most common metals recovered are silver, palladium, platinum, copper, and lead. Most refiners will only pay you on a combination of 4 of those metals.Quote:
