Some Advice Please

So things have been some kind of slow the past 2 weeks. I was picking up items daily but I also understand business comes and go like the wind. I mostly use Craigslist as my way of getting items or work.
Im not a dumpster guy yet not afraid of hard work. I have been going at it for about 5 months been happy, I'm not trying to create some sob story but would like advice mainly to you guys that do Craigslist. Is there some sort of time, title, etc that seems to work best? I got with KZ and tried posting to buy appliances for 5 dollars, no calls. Would I post an ad every hour, or just wait it out.

This week I will be contacting some auto parts stores, hvac companies, and hope something happens. So I hope this can help myself and also anyone else who has a funk in the future. Thanks in advance.

I think you are starting to go on the right track. Using Craig's list is nice but you know they say you should not put all the eggs in one basket. Just using one area for leads will get you just what it has..... nothing. Start branching out and talk to everyone. You never know where your next customer will come from.

Business cards help and cold calling on busisnesses. Your customer has the right to know the following: your name, your company's name, what business your company is in and why you are there talking to them.

Silly as this might sound I have met many professional salespeople who failed to even introduce themselves properly. Following the above will demonstate respect for the customer and make the most of the few minutes you have to sell yourself to a business person. Mike

Curbside. If you live in a dense area. If I see the homeowner, I help them however I can even with items I'm not going to take. I give them a card. Yes you burn a lot if fuel. It's the price of doing business. I've never payed for one pc of scrap. I earn it.

You can try your adds in several sections and experiment with some different keywords. I repost every two days if not flagged and if flagged, right away. Check out garage sales to buy things below scrap value. I stumbled on a sale on Friday were the guy had in excess of 200# yellow brass and 50# of 6 ga solid copper wire. Didn't make much on the brass but the wire ended up being the profit and will be sold on Ebay by the foot before I consider scrapping it as BB.
