string & paper on stator

Hi to all, Does the string and paper need to be removed after removing wires from stator to be #2 copper?

I take off what is easy but I don't waste any time on it and it hasn't been a problem with the yard I go to. Mike.

Our yard here in central Il.does not discount us here.While throwing in the can I may pull and remove the plastic or string as it gets tossed but I do not dwell on it.Every yard may be different as maybe other posts will add there experiences

i wondered about that too, and started taking it off, but like these guys said, i decided some of it was not gonna weigh a lot and took it in, still got #2

I clean mine down completely, all the string & insulation, whats left is what I can't get to with a genuine effort.

I sometimes even wash the oil off fridge compressor copper wire...
Once they had a second look at the microwave transformer coils & tried to pick the most obvious paper bit & gave up after 3 attempts.

Now they look at me with awe when they check my copper, they even noticed the lack of oil the first time I did it.

Thats what they get for being a great honest scrapmetal buyer (I even snip off the soldered ends on the wire..)
