I've spent the last couple of days looking thru old posts/threads trying to find info on "high carbon steel" such as sawzall blades and drill bits. I'm coming up empty on whether it's worth it to keep these items seperate, and if there are buyers for them. I'm new to the grading of steel/iron, when I called my local yard they said to throw it in with the "mixed steel". Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Ive never heard of anyone buying "High Carbon steel". I throw it in as sheetsteel.
i saw something about tungsten drill bits the other day
Tungsten carbide and HSS are two materials I found a bit of information in past postings on this forum. I am wondering if there is a buyer for "high carbon" tool steel, or if I'm just pissin' in the wind.
Another example would be band saw blade. A high quality highly flexible steel. Can this material be rated at a higher grade or does it just go into the mix? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
