2185 lbs of lead-acid batteries, what now?

Hi Folks,

I've accumulated 95 pieces of lead-acid batteries, weighing 2185 lbs. I've returned a few extra batteries to the scrap yard and was gived $0.30/lbs. What would be the best way to sell these in bulk? I don't have a vehicle to transport them all in one go. But would it be possible to sell to companies directly, instead to the scrap yard? Or perhaps negotiate a better price with the scrap yard, contigent, on delivering the batteries in several trips. What do you guys think? Any advice would be appreciated

Exide here in the states will buy em and pick em up. Idk if they do that in Canada but be worth your time to check. Also you should go to intro section and post a intro. It'll save you some trouble trust me. Welcome to the forum

Given your situation, you'll likely be ahead finding a scrap buyer who'll buy them and pick them up. If you can sell to someone like Exide (or other manufacturer), you'll be ahead. You might also try the larger retailers. Do you have anything like NAPA or AUTOZONE?

.30 is a good price right now, mine dropped to .20 lb here in Ind.(been there for 4 months) I'd jump on that price if I was you,,,

Don't forget to cut the wiring off before you sell. Will add to your profits if your sell the wire as insulated or strip if it makes sense.

Drive them down to Southern Illinois and I will give you .35/lb on them.

yeah just haul them in.. get 0.37 here but 0.30 isnt to bad

I'm in NJ, took batteries up Weds and it was .18/lb AHHHHH!!!!

Hey rev good to hear your from TO, that's a pretty good price your getting. Took some in a few weeks ago (leaky ones) and got .22/lb. Try negotiating a better price if you bring them all at once, don't see why it would pose a problem to make a few trips if you ask them.
