How do you scrap a riding lawnmower?

Whats the best way to scrap :confused:a riding lawnmower? Is there anything I should strip off or do I turn it in whole?

I just haul them in.

Depends what your time is worth. There is some aluminum on there (cast), but usually contaminated with steel so you have to make sure and take it off, which can be time consuming. I think it was Idaho that said he gets transmission price so you might try that route.

If them tires are good save them. I sell some of the rear for 10.00 a pair. You could also keep the belt.

If the motor still has compression and turns over then a lawn mower shop might buy it for a cheap spare. People are all the time blowing up their motors.

Take the battery.

I pull the motors off all lawnmowers, take the blade off and unbolt the the motor. Drain the oil out of the motor them bunch a hole in the block sell it as dirty alluminum. oh yeah if the gas tank is attached to the motor remove it. The rest gos in the steel.

I just haul them in.. newer ones are good for parts on feebay

i do it like happyscrapper said then i cut the tires off the rims or get charged $5 EACH and the yard. btw they also charge $10+ for car tires. they really dont like tires here.

do a little research online.. if it's a older model and you can afford to sit on it for a bit, advertise some of the parts on ebay... if you want to strip it for scrap... if it is not too old, engine is usually aluminum case, as is the transaxle.... the starter can be put with your electric motors and of course the battery

I took one apart a few days ago. First time doing it so i just started taking off every bolt i saw till it was stripped down. Sometimes the best way to learn is to just jump right in and see how it goes.
