Plastic dishwasher tubs work well for wire and PCB's. The price is right too.
I use 55 gallon drums with the tops cut off in my shed to hold the stuff in before boxing up for shipment. If your talking larger scale you should be using gaylord boxes.
I use plastic 55 gallon barrells too. Take the time to introduce yourself!
I pack my e-scrap in cardboard boxes and store yhem in a dry place untill I'm ready to sell. Other things like insolated copper, #1 copper and #2 copper go in plastic totes and smaller things like small motors and small transformers go in 5 gal. puckets.
i have had good luck picking up 18 gallon plastic totes from the trash while out picking. just picked up another 8 the other day.
Got this from another poster- go to local car wash and see if they have any empty soap barrels they want to get rid of. sometimes they give them to you sometimes you pay...no more than 5 bucks...jmo...i cut them in half, drill two holes on each side and run some rope thru holes and make handles. easier to handle when loading on pickup to go to scrap yard.

I store all my stuff in gaylords at a storage unit now, and in my workshop I use 55 gallon walmart totes.

Hold 400 lbs. Stackable, nice snap on lids that you can lock down if need be. Hold up really nice. Fit together real nice in a full size pick-up bed or on some decent shelving. Hate to spend money on stuff like this but they are really nice and heavy duty for the money in my eyes.
I use those and a combination of plastic soap drums, used cardboard boxes, 5 gallon buckets, etc....whatever else I can get for free or next to nothing.
I have everything in 5 gal buckets hooked to nails on the wall (holds various wire), plastic totes, and even some old dressers drawers. I use the tops of the dressers for workbenches, and then the drawers to hold MBs, drives, etc. Larger totes for the plastic to recycle.

I use plastic 40kg coal sacks for most of my non ferrous metal. 55Gallon drums for iron & scrapped microwave & computer cases for the small steel shred.
Dirty yellow for dirty copper, clean yellow for clean copper.
Dirty white sacks for Cast Ali, clean white for extrusion, various white for light ali & domestic ali.
Stainless goes into a scrapped dishwasher.
Brass in a small sack.
