CBM Prices?
I havent had the time to post in the new member section of the forum yet but hello all. I have been lurking on the forums long enough so I figured I would sign up. I have ran across about 300 small copper bearing motors about the size of two deck of cards stacked on top of each other. I took one apart and the copper inside weighed 2oz. One motor alone weighs .75lbs so taking the copper out is worth more but just kind of a pain and really time consuming to do so. My yard pays .20-.30 cents a pound for the motors as is. Just curious what some other peoples local yards pay for them. Thanks.

Same range at the two yards I use in MN. Found that most small cbm not worth the time to break down further.

Yeah, I would definiately put my time and effort elsewhere. You only make a few more bucks if you break those down. Youd make around $55 as is now. Turn those small ones in as is and focus on getting more scrap or more profitable break downs.

23 cents here the last time I took any in. May be higher now and of course will fluctuate.

Thanks for the responses, I sold 217lbs @ .30lb with steel still wrapped around the motor itself so I was happy.

thats an easy 65 bucks! the time required for 2 oz of copper would not have been worth at all. good job!
