TV Gravy train might be over

These days i see that the TV curb side is way down , For 2yrs I almost could not keep up but finally it is slowing down. two factors I figure
1) The town does not take electric appliances any more (special pickup) but still by curb or people can drop them to a municipal building now.
2) Little by little people now have flat screen tv's
Micro waves A/C's down also
To bad i really counted on that as one of the reason trash day was a good day
I still get some from the uninformed - need to put out flyer's for used TV's & CRT . I need to counter punch this new trend as i know some of the product is still out there

to bad you don;t live down by tampa, i get tv's all the time, i give them to a freind and he gives me the baords, he gets rid of the tube and the trash and he gets the copper. i give him 5-10 a week. try asking around at the thrift shops, they are always looking to get rid of tv's.

I simple CL ad will get you rmore tv's then you can shake a stick at if you give the people a place to drop them off at. At least here in denver area I see 10 or more a day people are trying to give away for free.

think its time for a business strategy change. In the city of Hamilton where I live in Canada it is illegal to....

1: put anything at the curb side except your regular garbage no earlier then 5 pm the night before garbage pick up

2: pick up anything on the side of the road that is not yours including garbage bags

3: and your not aloud to pick out of the recycling bins curbside

you can call the waste management company responsible for your area for large items like your couch and fridge but only 3-4 times a year and up to 3 items each time.

as we know Canada is unfortunately a little farther down the socialist worm hole then we are, but hey we are catchin up fast.

They may be further down the wormhole BUT the looney is worth more than the dollar right now!

Cant put out electronics here anymore as of 1-1-12. Have to donate them. Guess the goverment wants more money out of the little guys hands IDK. I cleared out my garadge attic to store them so when i get time and it gets warmer to work on them. People still throw them out so im gettin what i can. Cant dump emptys in dumpsters anymore, They are all chained and locked.

I'm guessing you live in NY? I know that the number of TVs dropped near me too

That absolutely is not the case here. So many t.v.'s I'm tired of messing with em. Microwaves are still fairly abundant also. A/C's? Yeah, they're kinda hard to come by right now. Hopefully this changes come summer time.

I remember when it was like - oh another TV I almost did not want to see them cause I knew I would not let them get by me.

Yeah, I know. You're right, too. Even though I'm tired of messin with em I still do. Just because I know it will drop. And when it does I'll be able to say I got mine when the gettin was good. And hopefully something else will start showing up in abundance. Like hopefully 'MORE AUTOS".

I looked on Internet and saw the law changes " White Goods - Household Appliances & Metal " are picked up by appointment now Including TV's . - OR - they can be dropped off during business hours

This I know, if i happen to by chance hit a house set up for appointment the town workers will be angered when they take the time to pick up items and a street scraper gets them first, The town does not want to waste time , Next will be fines towards street scrapers for taking items set up for town pick up. it is inevitable.

There is a big difference now in the past i always saw pick ups with you name it in the cabs, now most are gone and a straggler or two all you see is some pathetic item in the back hardly worth being out for .

I don't curb shop much anymore, I don't have the time to go out on a regular basis. I get my stuff off C/L, freecycle, and from repeat people. Not getting much right now due to it being winter, but once it warms up and I'm out of class for summer I'll be hitting the internet hard again with my ads.

I have a stack of monitors and tvs in my garage right now, but it's too cold to mess around with and I don't feel like lugging them in the house one by one.

Yesterday I went by my parents for lunch, and ran their garbage out for them...found two tvs in the dumpster of their complex, a small and a medium. Case on the medium was already busted so I broke it down right there, small tv went in my car...actually is still in there...

Give it time. They will come.

Well - when i would run my typical morn route I used to load that car up GOOD . and at one point at the end after hitting all the streets - A feeling of daily scraper instinct would hit me and I'd say " I'm done " cause I knew the streets were cleaned out. Now as I drive the streets I can say this " IT'S DONE " Like a baby for 3 years i have been spoon fed - now it's time to eat on my own .

I used to find tv's all the time as well, they were my favorite because of the abundance and the break down time,"the cord bandit" would always beat me to them and snip the cord but leave the rest. I would find 5-10 a week usually now I'm lucky to find 1 or 2 and lately.

I always wondered who those cord bandits were - I have seen every thing driving the street except - THEM - I think they are a mystical ghost maybe dead scrapers roaming the streets . Now they will have to go to the municipal building to get the cords.

Yeah, No cords are a bummer.

Gimme some tvs!
