Needing Guidance..
Hi folks,im new to the forum.i am Looking to trade my 2002 mustang in for scrap metal.she doesn't run so well so this may be the end of the road for her. Does anyone have any advice on where to start, what questions to ask and/or what the going rate would be for a car of this stature. I don't want to get screwed and have heard of stories before.I am in the Louisville area. Please let me know what you think....all replies are welcomed

Sell it for the motor. you could sell a dead car for $500, but you can get 1000 to 1500 if the motor still works. Thats what my dad did with his cars and trucks that wernt working. also about 2 weeks ago I saw a tow truck pullin a station wagon stripped down to the frame with only two tires on it to pull it.

The "stature" of the car means nothing to the scrap yard; they'll pay you the same per pound as any other car. Sell parts off of it first. Then haul in the shell.
-
Call an auto parts yard and see if they will pay more for it.
Or throw it on CL for $1,000 as a fixer and see what it does.
That car is a bit north of 3,000 lbs based on what I could find. Say you get .10/lb, you're looking at $300 or so.
-
YEah definitly throw ad on CL. if you have a spot you can part it out then do that. Being the fact its a 2002 you could make more than 2 g's parting it out if your not in a hurry.

Isn't scrapping a mustang illegal, or the 11 deadly sin or something?

they opened a slaughter house for horses in nebraska. you could take it there and see what they will pay for a little pony.
F------ Old Rebuilt Dodge
-
Ford - found on road dead..... fu ked on retail deal....flipped over rebuilt doge..lol
-
Don't scrap it if the body is good....here in Dallas I can get a brand new motor for it for around $800....so if she looks good...just replace the motor...you maybe able to rebuild it your self for $300 or less based on what all you have to replace (most times you can rebuild/reuse some parts and make it cheaper)

and...when we are on jokes of fords..here you go
WHY ARE THERE SIDEWALKS BESIDE MOST STREETS AND HIWAYS?
So Ford owners have a safe place to walk home
