Hi Guys
If I strip my wire, regardless of size would it all be considered bright wire? Are there grades of sized stripped wires?
I have read the pros and cons about stripping the wire, but I'm unsure of what to call the end result after stripping! I've saved all the wire from the past year and just got in my TNT striping tool :) So I'm ready for action :)

Its all up to the yard you sell to. My yard has two grades of copper, #1 and #2. That covers all clean copper. Wire that is considered #1 copper is larger than a pencil lead and no solder or other foreign objects. Stranded wire is #2. I guess if the individual strains were larger than a pencil lead then it would be #1. The "bright" classification does not apply at my yard.
Mostly you want to ensure you bring in "clean" metal in order to get the best price. "Dirty" metal for example would be Al with steel screws. You get far less for dirty anything. Keep reading the old posts it will get clearer as you gain experience.
When you go to you local yard to sell your copper take the time to ask questions. If you don't like the price or how you are being treated don't be afraid to put you stuff back in you vehicle and go somewhere else.

Thank you very much for your reply mike! I know it must seem tedious for members repeating the same thing ever time a new guy asks the same questions, thanks again :) I will keep hunting the threads and tomorrow I'll talk to my yard.

See, at my yard there is 3 classes of stripped wire, #2 - #1 and bare bright. That's why we say every yards different.
