Heating oil florida
Ok scrapping partner has a neighbor with a old oil filled drum feeding a home heater furnace. How much can i sell the oil for on craigslist. kerosene I suppose approx 35 gallons. Whats the going rate? It is clean and not old. They converted to ac heat. Thanks. Tim .

It depends if it's waste oil, HH oil or kerosene. Kerosene is clear usually.

Retail K-1 kero is running around $3.95 gal up here,,

Personally I would be very wary of buying Any fuel out of a old drum from some random guy on CL.
The buyer will have no way of knowing if it has been contaminated or not and not many people have a way to lift and haul a full or nearly full oil drum.
Your best bet would be to sell it to a local auto shop that uses a waste oil heater.

Gustavus has posted some things about getting and selling old oil...He was getting a buck a gallon 10 years ago and doing quite well.

I sold about 200 gal a couple of years ago to a local farmer. He came down with his pickup and barrels and pumped it into his 55 gal. barrels and added it to the diesel tractors. He paid 1.50 a gal for it and was really happy.

There are test kits you can buy that will test oil (fuels) for water. Just look up diesel water test kits as some diesel owners will test pump fuel and or wvo/bio diesel before using it so that will take care of the question if there is water or not.
Now if it was for home heating...it will work just fine as diesel fuel for the most part as it wont be used motor oil. Diesel trucks can burn most oil type fuels..I have even seen them run on outside lamp oil.
