there doesn't seem to be a drain plug of any kind to unscrew so I will have to drill it first, I just don't want to drill it out on the floor if its oil. There isn't a brand name on it anywhere to look it up.

shake it, you should be able to hear it. Most likely a Delonghi.
I did one of these last year. When you pull the element you will find the oil.
Nothing worth getting out. Cut the cord, toss heater on shred pile.

Hide it in ya shred is all. Dont them see it or find a better yard. My local yard takes cars without drain ing etc. Kinda funny seeing them crunch a car with the claw and then loading it into the truck with it pissing oil all over the place.
If you don't want to toss it into the pile as is, then get a barrel to store waste oil. People are looking for that stuff for their waste oil burners.
Newattitude, If the heater is indeed using mineral oil then it is eco safe.
Mineral oil is used in many cosmetics and personal care products. All deemed safe up until this point and time.
So I can mix mineral oil with motor oil and its ok? I do have a bucket started at my dads.Quote:

Huh, I wouldn't have thought I could mix this oil with the kerosene in the torpedo heater.
Yep ya can.....small quantites mixed with the kerosene will burn. You can even mix small quantities of motor oil in there as well. Not much. Google it.
^^I tried that and got lots of mixed messages pro and con as far as that goes so i figured I'd err on the side of caution and not mix anything with the kerosene just in case.
Umm crazies....hope ya not referring to me lol. I run home heating oil in my torpedo. zI have the $300+ model that is multi fuel. I run 4 gallon with 1 gallon waste oil mix. I have no issues whatsoever. I been running it for months and Im still here. Hasnt killed me yet lol. Burns clean. Only time it puffs is when it shuts down on the thermostat, which is normal for them. Other than that, burns nice and hot and clean.Quote:
