Idk either, but I would like to know because I can get a whole dumpster full of the CDs and DVD and VHSs.
I read somewhere on the net that theres a machine that can cut a groove into the CD, just like on a record, & you can record sound onto the CD.

According to this Wikipedia Article, although recyclable, it's not profitable for companies to pay for them

We buy CD/DVD scrap. We are located east of Cleveland, Ohio.
Depending on your location, it may not be worth it unless you generate atleast 10,000 lbs of it at a time.
depending on the market, it is worth $.10 to $.15/lb
You want to keep the CD and DVD scrap separated to maximize the price as well. Must be clean and free of paper.
Wonder how CD/DVD's it takes to weigh in at 10,000 lbs?
Average weight of a CD = 0.0396832072 lbs
10 000 / 0.0396832072 = 251 995.761 CDs

I re-use them (cd's, dvd's, etc.) to hang in fruit & berry bushes & tress to ward off birds.

I hang a string of used CD,s around my nursery. So far it has actually kept the deer out which is a huge problem here on Long Island
Really, really! Appearantly, they don't like the random light reflections. I wish I had thousands more. I like having the birds around to eat bugs, but want them to stay out of my fruits & berries.Quote:
