I might have an opportunity to get some lead panels from a tear down of a medical office. They have them in the walls of the room where the X-Rays are taken.
Is there any concerns about handling lead that has been bombarded by X-Rays for years? Any concerns from the yards?

as long as the panels themselves dont contain radioactive elements, they should be fine. exposure to radiation does not mean it will give off radiowaves.
Get a Geiger counter and find out if they light up when you get close to it with it. On the other hand most scrap yards won't accept medical equipment at all. Why I don't know I guess the fear of radioactivity just scares them to much to even mess with it.

I work for a medical device company (my real career), and there are a lot of concerns with equipment that has not been decontaminated properly. Many pieces come in contact with HIV, West Nile, Small Pox, etc, etc...I would consider taking medical equipment because of my background, but if you are unsure, I would really inquire about the use of and the possibility of what has come in contact with the piece of equipment.Quote:

haha my main concern was radioactivity. I completely forgot about all the diseases that come into contact with anything medical. Staff infection comes to mind to.
