Finally got a motor apart all the way - the keepsies held me up

Well now i know what my hang up was in tearing this motor all the way down to get the metal rods out - keepsies(?), snappers/snapsies(?) I think is what my dad called them. He showed me how to remove them with screwdrivers but I still think its going to take me more than two hands to remove them that way. But, now I am not going to turn in any motor without tearing down to get the cast for more money! And it actually didn't take me as long as I thought it would and it didnt end up being as involved as I thought it would either! Now that I've mastered small motors I can't wait to tackle something bigger!!! lol!

Congratulations!! I have found two things very useful for stubborn bolts/nuts and what I think you're referring to as "keepsies" - Sawzall and grinder. Sometimes, something will confound the Sawzall, but nothing manages to stand up to that grinder.

they were the thingies above the springs, I had to depress the springs and push UP on the ......the whatever those are called!

Could your talking about the "brushes", don't look at all like a brush but they are in contact with the rotor as it spins giving the beast it's juice to power it.

I don't know my dear I know that you are spoken for and all but with all this erotic scrap lingo .....

I mean come on, what scrapper in his right mind could rest such erotic terms like keepsies and snappers let alone snapsies!

As a gentleman I will keep the metal rods out of it.

Mick I think that she is calling those push on spring clips - keepsies, sawsall would glide right over them. They're made from spring steel.

newattitude if postage wasn't a killer I would donate a repulsion induction motor for you to rip into.

The repulsion induction motors have copper field windings and the armature is also wound with copper, these are old a very heavy motors.

I have one similar to the one is the picture that I'm saving for personal use, these motors have great starting torque and make good compressor motors.
