My buddy found $2000 in scrap yesterday. In his attic.

My buddy calls me up yesterday.

"Hey uh... a little birdy told me you know about old coins, is that true" I used to be a power seller on ebay selling old coins and he says he found some in his attic and wanted me to look at them before he let his wife take them to the bank.

Long story short, he moved into his house a couple years ago and there was a typewriter box in the attic that he just ignored. Yesterday he moved it and turns out it was actually a small safe, filled with pre 1965 silver coins.

He brought them into work today for me to look at over lunch and he found just shy of $2000 in silver coins. No rare dates but almost 50 ounces of silver. He had asked a pawn shop to make an offer before he asked me and they had offered him $50. There was over $60 face value of silver coins. LOL

His family can really use the extra cash right now, he is ecstatic. I told him I get a cut though. Minimum of two cold beers. Maybe a sandwich too. :)

That's fantastic! I recently sold at a local pawn (now I know how stupid I was for not researching more thoroughly) about 20 1965 and below quarters because a $0.25 turned into $2.50. Never again will I make that mistake now lol.

Great for him though. I bet has was mighty happy.

He was pretty stoked... too excited actually. He found them on Tuesday, had me appraise them on Wednesday and had them sold by Wednesday night for $1700. I had a buyer that would have given him about $2000 with today's spot price. Oh well, still a good haul for him.
