Magnet Wire?

What exactly is magnet wire? Is it any form of copper wire that has insulation (or the rubber coating, I don't know the terminology)?

Is it wire with thin strands? Or the wire with a solid copper core? Or are both considered magnet wire?

Magnet wire is not magnetic. It can be either copper or aluminum. It is typical of what is in motors as windings. Insulation is not rubber, paper etc but I don't know what you call it.

If you will google the term "magnet wire" then wikipedia will explain it.
