For those of us who break down dryers and get the change that has fell to the bottom (in addtion to the electric motor), I was kind of curious as how much you have found lately. I just broke one down and ended up with $1.67 plus a Canadian cent. Twice last year I broke one down and found better than $15 in change (which basically doubled the value of the dryer each time). This can show also to new folks that it does pay to break stuff down.
Haven't found more than a dollars worth of spare change..have found a liberty dime though..
I have also taken apart a cash register, with $41 cash left underneath the removable till drawer.
I went and picked up a washer and a dryer one day. I helped the lady bring the new ones in and get them hooked up because her husband was working and it was about to rain like crazy. We get all done and he comes pulling in on his motor cycle with a guitar strapped to it and was very glad that I had helped his wife out. We got back and busted it down and there were a bunch of guitar picks in there along with about a buck and a half in change.
Up until recently I was breaking it down to the motor, plus whatever change was at the bottom. One day I decided I'd destroy the blower housing to see what is in there. Got about a dollars worth.
Now I make certain everything has been looked at before I toss it into the scrap pile.
I have lost track as to how many dryers I have broke down and my grand total? Not one red cent!

Right now I'm in the processes of moving so hasn't been much scrapping going on. How's it been for you? :)
Im most of the way through breaking down my first washing machine. So far I've found some soaking, mouldy clothes and a lot of broken glass, all of which smells worryingly like human poo.
If you can stomache doing so, check those pants pockets. Atleast here in America, our money doesn't shred when wet.Quote:

I knew I should do this at the time, but I decided not to. The mixture of human dirt and loads of razor sharp shards of broken glass just made it seem like it wasn't worth taking the extra risk.Quote:

Not a dryer find but found a vacume cleaner, bag was over filled with dirt. As I was removing the bag found a dime and a cent. Dumped out the bag and for more pennies. Total of .15 cents...
My best find in a drier was a wedding ring, I still had the persons number in my phone so I asked if she was missing something and she immediately said my wedding ring. LOL I couldn't bring myself to keep it.
My favorite find wasn't in a drier but in a refrigerator. I went to get a refrigerator from a house, came to find it was a spare refrigerator in their garage. It still ran but they just wanted to get rid of it. Inside was 3 cases of unopened Budweiser. The owner gave the refrigerator and beer to me. Gotta love it.
I haven't had Iron City, but I have had Rolling Rock.
Oh my god iron city beer. growing up in somerset PA i have drank so much of that when I was younger. thanks for the flashback Kris Kringle....
