Running veg oil in a diesel truck
In a older post someone asked me how was I doing this..an I have had a few people ask me by pm (not a real shocker with gas prices as high as they are)
But this is HOW I am doing it.
I have four tanks an I will fill each one up (they are 250gal) each tank needs to sit for about 2weeks before the oil is clean to go into your tank as fuel as long as you dont hit the tanks or move them around..the trash will go to the bottom.
If you are going to run pure veg oil...you should have two tanks on the truck...one being veg oil one being every day diesel..you start the truck on diesel to warm it up an then switch over to veg oil...an before you turn the truck off...run it on every day diesel to clean out the fuel system of any acid.
On another side note..if you are running pure veg oil....save up money (around 10g) incase you need to rebuild the motor...I know people who been running pure veg oil on there trucks for about 4+ years now but...save up the money for any repairs that need to be done. They have had some repair that needed to be done to there truck but they still saving a boat load by not paying for fuel as much as they needed to an...they run the diesel 5 days a week pulling around 10k pounds..so was it the veg oil that caused the repairs or them running the truck hard?? You tell me lol.
Now If you are using a older 7.3 you can just put it right into your tank with out having a heater in it..unless there is like snow on the ground..then you will need a heater..down here in texas..it stays pretty warm all year. If you are running newer trucks you can cut your diesel with veg oil. You can even build a setup to make veg oil into B100 (bio diesel)
Making B100 is not very hard but it dose take some time..an water...(yes you have to water the fuel an then dry the fuel) There is alot of info on websites on how to do this..I just thought I would make a post so anyone who wanted to know a little more can read a fast run down here.
