New Part Timer from Kentucky

I am looking forward to learning from the pros.

I am an eBay seller in Industrial and Commercial. As such, I end up with stuff I can not sell and have started scrapping to maximize the value rather than just selling everything in the big metal catch all bin at the recycler. I use to be a machinist, so I know how to take things apart, but I don't necessarily know the best way to take something apart. I hope to pick up some good tips.

When I get things apart, I need to be able to identify what is valuable and what is not. That is the main reason I am here.

Welcome to the forum from Las Vegas! A good place to start is the guide you should've been emailed upon registering. Make judicious use of the search function and that will provide some guidance but also always feel free to chime in with questions and share your results!

Rule of thumb: magnetic stuff has low value and non-magnetic is more valuable, but it needs to be very clean.

Hey there and welcome. As a machinist you can probably figure out some better ways to get stuff apart and I'm always happy to find more efficient ways to do things.
