I have been taking down a lot of electronics lately and have a pretty big pile of those heavy rings that protect some of the wires in the electronics. They are dark grey and metallic. What material are they? is it worth anything?

Those are iron powder pressed cores.
Those are called ferrite chokes. Pretty popular on ebay. Check it out, I'm saving mine.
Those thick rings that look like napkin rings? I've been tossing those in my metal since a magnet sticks to them I thought they were steel or magnets.
