Platinum liberating oxygen from water, this DPF is and was at the end of life - poisoned from the sulfur compounds in diesel fuel had this comb been in good condition canalized oxygen would have been visible across the whole surface area.

On the large DPF comb every second hole is capped off, once that channel is full of particulate the comb gets super heated to burn the carbon.
Only Platinum will withstand the required heat, palladium turns into Pd oxide.

To make it interesting the person who guess's how many grams platinum are in the cat and dpf filter combined will receive a gram of platinum sponge. Entries must be posted by the end of the day May 14th. / 2021
Left side DPF. right hand jar is cat.

This guess is out of left field but i'd say 11 grams
In the tube video above we see the platinum liberating oxygen from water,.
Last week I made some activated carbon and decided to use it to scavenge any platinum that passed through the filter paper.
The carbon did a fantastic job,the very small bits unseen to the human eye have attacked to the carbon, the reaction is instantaneous. Now i have platinum activated carbon as it reacts with the water once again we have oxygen. The carbon floats making recovery easy.

Up to this point the platinum recovered has been without the use of chemicals just ultrasonic's and water there's probably a lot of unburnt soot in he filters and the next step will be to incinerate.
The comb has been broken up and covered with a chemical leach to recover any possible platinum left behind from the sonic treatment, the leach is left at ambient temperature for a couple of days.. Once the pregnant leach has been recovered the precious metals will be cemented out then allowed to settle then decanting and filtering. out the sludge.

From left to right, sample pulled from leach, pdf filter then he cat.
The majority of the comb in he leach is from the DPF filter the green color indicates a combination of Pt / Pd. far right is from the cat, color indicates platinum.
If your wondering why the comb was submitted to the sonic treatment beforehand it removed the carbon and some of the precious metals but most importantly per-conditioned the comb for the leaching process.

Learned a few things made a couple of mistakes, I suggest you sell your cats to the most trusted cat buyer in the whole of the USA - APA.
None of the guess's were even close, this thread has come to an end.

So i don't get my platinum soaked sponge?
Based on your guess 11 grams the DPF and Cat would have had a value of $ 441.01 USD, I'm sure you can appreciate reputable buyers are paying much more.. As i said before ending the thread no one came close.
My buyer offered me $440.00 USD / $550.00 Canadian after removing the wash coat I now know my buyer is out to lunch - no cigar.
Had I weighed the comb before I removed the wash coat then with the grams recovered I could have told you how many grams to the pound these combs were loaded.
It appears my guess was right on with your local buyer (HMMM I MUST BE ONTO SOMETHING)
Dish weighs 76.9 grams, final product still contaminated with wash coat slurry.

Yes but I thought we were actually guessing the amount of actual platinum not whatever that is in your picture
