I have access to a few range hoods in my area. Some are free, some are like $10.
Are they worth scrapping? Or not even worth the trouble?

If they are stainless and you take them apart they might be worth around $5-10 in stainless steel each. If they are not stainless and/or you don't take them apart they are worth like $1-2 each as light iron. So.... Probably not worth it unless there is tons of them
Scrapping value (non-stainless units):
-a small handful of wire
-a 2-10 pound electric motor
-dirty aluminum grease filters (some are so greasy you may not want to separate them)
-some light bulbs (probably working)
-5-15 pounds of steel
For scrap value they're not worth a whole lot, but they are a quick process to take apart.
If you're able to test them and clean them they may have some resale potential. In my experience with them (the dumpster across from work usually produces 10+ of those per month) most of them just had faulty on/off switches or were just super greasy. If you're able to get a few of them working I could see you selling them for $10-$25 each based on brand and color.
