Not exactly a newbie
I'm baacckk!
Hello everyone, I joined SMF a few years ago but had to take a break to take care of both my parents with cancer. Fast forward, now I'm back in the swing of things with ewaste again....alot has changed and I feel like a newbie so I thought I would introduce myself again. Please bear with me while I transition back in to the scrap world!

Things are a lot quieter here than they were years ago. A lot of this is due to the market slowing down IMO, while some people say that the moderation staff here hasn't promoted the site enough (I really don't think it's the moderator's fault- the scrap markets are just kinda bad now). Things used to be real busy here. There used to be a lot more buyers here, more discussions, and more users. A lot of us here are the old-timers now. Really, most of the forum is for the buyers and sellers now- it's a great place to connect with scrap and more than scrap buyers. You don't see as much on the discussion side. Some people worry that the forum may just die. I don't think it will, but I'd take some time to meet with the buyers of E-Waste here- get the contact information for all of us, and just read as much as you can. You can learn a lot here still. Just don't expect many 17 page discussion threads any more

Theres a HUGE amount of info here.
When i found SMF i thought i knew a bit.... But 1/2 of what i did know, was wrong, and the other 1/2, was half right..
I have seen websites go ( TOTSE ) i dont know where the people went, but some, like me, went to different websites, then shifted onto other sites, at one point i had to step in to save one site by buying a part for it, @ horrendous cost since the NZ$ was worth less than US$0.40 cents, but that kept it going & 2 sites later we are still there, plenty of new faces, some no longer with us, but theres still a good community going & interest is increasing again.
Scrapmetalforums been here all of that time.
But, one thing i asked when i first arrived here and I still dont know....
Is whats that thin strip of Silicon stuck to the centre of the mylar connectors on the edge of Flatscreen TV's do?
