On My Way To My Job....

On my way to my job, I drive by a cube on the side of the road. I think, "Boy, that looks interesting..." I turn around and go back and it is a heat exchanger for a AC pool heater, complete with compressor. I pull in and the guy starts walking down the driveway and I ask if I can take the unit. He says "yes" and even helps me lift it on the truck. I thank him and head back to the house and dump it on my trailer to clean later. It looks like it is going to be a good haul of copper, the compressor(very heavy), and two Cu/Al coils that I am pretty sure will top 40-50 pounds. Woot! Woot!

Pool heaters are rare as hens teeth! Good score!

I've been scrapping actively, putting 800-ish miles a week on a truck through residential hoods where people with more dollars than sense reside... and I've only gotten 4 or 5 in 10 years.

It's a matter of people that need it done won't do it themselves, so they hire it done & the installer probably even charges for hauloff of the old one, and recycles it themselves.
