This is an ad for if I counted correctly, 54 computers. Some complete. Some not. For is asking price of 189. It breaks down to about 4 a piece.
Is it worth it in todays market?

That's up to you. If you can sell them whole or for parts then probably. As just scrap not worth it for me, there was a time I have paid up to $7/tower and scraped them for a profit. Times have changed. 73, Mike.
unless you need parts for small form factor dell desktops you will lose money if you scrap them
Most appear to be quite old. Not seeing a lot of better than scrap value there. Considering the time, wear & tear on the vehicle, and the labor to break down ... seems like it could be a losing proposition. No sense for you to pick up the tab because the seller overbid on the lot.
offer half..if they dont accept that then offer$2.50.

some one about a year or two ago had a post that broke it down and pretty much explained how most average computers complete were worth $5 after they got broken down. it said you should try not to pay more than about $2-$3 for each computer if it was complete. i'm not big on computers so I don't know if the prices for boards changed at all but the price for steel is roughly the same as when that post went up.
It's only worth it if you can resell the desktops as desktops. If you part them out and resell the parts, you might make a couple bucks, but it wouldn't be worth the time. If you couldn't do that and had to scrap them out, you'd be in a tough spot to come out ahead.
My rule on thumb for desktops is that I love to scrap them, but I won't pay for them. Places that try to sell them are looking for a quick buck, and you can't blame them. But, they're selling what is basically a worthless commodity. When they come to the realization that they won't get anything, then I'll come and pick them up. Until then, I won't play their games. They'll either sell none, or they'll end up selling some to people that don't know they bought an incomplete, non-working system, and those people are likely to come to me to have the machine made whole anyways. Either way, my best move financially is to just sit it out and do nothing really
Ok. He dropped price to 179. Also said if he keeps the 7010 and 1 incomplete 780. He will take 50 off. So 52 of them for 130. None have had. most have everything else. I dont mind labor. The drive isnt far. What you all think?
Sounds like you wanna do it so I say go for it........Risk is minimal you'll probably break even........If you need the material to complete a shipment sometimes it can be worth it just to keep the money flowing.........I refurbish as well as scrap so I always need parts so this would not be a terrible deal for me but I can usually get better newer stuff for not a whole lot more.......Good luck and post results
Strongly second mike's call. If any of them have those slimline cd/dvd drives test them out. Have had great luck selling them on ebay.
Try your local junk yard and craigslist.
