Old Antenna We Just Dug Out of the Attic

My sister and I pulled an antenna from the attic that was installed in the 1980s. I held a magnet to it and it is not sticking but it doesn't look like copper to me, (at least not 100% copper).
When I told my sister I'd like to put the antenna in the scrap pile, to be cashed in (eventually) she told me absolutely not, that she planned on taking photos and posting in as a giveaway on the local FaceBook freebie page. I replied that likely whoever picks it up will end up scrapping it themselves anyway, however she's convinced someone will use it.
My overall question is, am I being a tight-wad in thinking we should keep this in the family and not give it away?
