My 2 cents + 1060lb load of scrap
If you are a Craigslist scrapper - don't assume everything that appears to be lightweight is - Saturday i picked up a snowblower (dead - no picture on ad) and if it had not been for the person getting rid of it helping me, I would not have been able to load it in my truck - and even with his assistance it wasn't easy. It looked like it was from 1983 or something even the labels were made of steel.
I also came across a dryer (same day) that was very very old and probably as heavy as some washers. I took it apart (the back) and nothing was inside.
BBQ grill with no pic - was also very heavy (previous weekend). That's my very amateur advise as a very part time scrapper - don't automatically assume it's light if there is no picture OR if it's an OLD dryer.
My last load was 1060 lbs.., it almost came close to my truck's load capacity I would have thought maybe 600 lbs. at the most but.... 2 OLD washers, an OLD dryer, 3 bikes, 2 truck brake rotors and a few random metal scrap - cake pans - chicken wire etc....
My neighbor one street away (4 minutes walking distance - SCORE) was getting rid of a tenant's stuff - a previous tenant that didn't want to pick up everything. (I actually had a 360 lb second load as well from him cause I didn't want to be greedy and get a ticket for loading my truck up too much).
Did I do OK - or - is the scrap yard's scale broken on that first load in BOLD? Does that even sound right?
