Junking a FL car in CA
Hi I am curious to know if the process of junking a FL registered car in CA means that I don't have to follow the requirements that CA has for sending cars to the junk yard for scrapping?
I just really want to get rid of this car and since the registration is going to expire at the end of the month whereas there's damages that will cost around $2000 to repair, I feel as if this car as run it's course (not counting the amount of money I was going to invest into repairing it to sell it easier; meaning I would make no profit at this point after this added issue). That and I am going away for 3 months because of my job where I can't take my car hence another reason for me to see no point in keeping the car. Tomorrow I am planning on having it towed and taken away and I was under the impression that all I needed to do was to sign my title to the person who will rid of it for me.
Any advice?
Thank you!

If you have time, try selling "as is" for a few hundred and if that goes no where, call the tow guy.

Also call a couple of your local scrap yards that take autos and ask them the procedures. While you are looking for scrap yards look for yards that specialize in selling parts from damaged autos. They may offer you a better price that a regular scrap yard.
When all is done make certain you get paperwork from whom ever you sell to that they have purchased your car so they are held responsible. 73, Mike
