I picked one up off the ground thought it was a flash drive in looking at one it looks to have a little gold plate on the end that connects to the device.

I have been picking these up as well, some are darker gold and some lighter but I don't know if it is gold or not. I can't believe it would be brass...anyone know?
Yep they are gold plated/flashed.
