Intro
Hello fellow scrappers!
I have been scrapping various metal since the late 80s, but just in the last few years started e-scrapping more. I have worked in the IT field for 20 years and started doing research about what can be done with old non working computers probably 10 years ago. Too bad I didn't do that research before we threw away those 50 486 computers! I wanted to cut off the gold fingers from cards and reclaim the gold, but it seems to be more complicated than my time will allow. Now I am just collecting all the old computers I can and separating the pieces. I taken several loads of computer cases and cased wire to the local scrapyard. I am still searching for an e-scrap buyer in my area to take the boards in person.
I've been looking at posts on this board for a while so I decided to join and make some comments.

Welcome to SMF and thanks for joining. There are some very educational old posts and some very knowledgeable members. I am not one of them and still studying the old threads. Do not be afraid to share your insights and pictures. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum TC. yes you should keep reading those old forums. Throwing away 486's is a bad thing, but live and learn. You know not to do that again. Oh, and when you think you have read enough of the old stuff, start again, you can never tell what you might have missed.
There are plenty of great buyers here that you can ship to and they will, for the most part, sort of a little of the stuff for you. Also, the ones that I have dealt with are very honest with you if that is a concern for you. This is the best place to be.
