I need a wire stripper
I recently cut my hand and I need something that I can stick a wire in and just pull through. I have to things I looked at so far. Anyone else give me some advice?

I use a utility knife for solid wire. For stranded I like to soak wire in acetone, turns most insulations to gelatin but acetone is like $18 a gallon here. Thought of trying an english wheel type of setup but don"t have the materials for that (yet). I tried a hammer on some when the weather was below freezing, worked ok but the thrill just wasn't there.

Ah. I used to use one but after a serious accident that landed me.in the hospital when the knife (razor) popped out and cut close to a vein I decided I needed a.better solution

What kind of volume do you plan on doing?
specific wire or all different types?
I do not strip too much wire only 8 gauge or larger stranded. A piece of 2x4 with a few holes drilled through it and drywall screws as the blade.

I put my wooden piece in a vise and use pliers to pull the wire through, works best for me with long wire, it can actually get quite a lot stripped in a short time.
all I use for solid core is and an old skinning knife.

I tried the 2x4 with drywall screws for a while. Wasn't very smooth and with stranded wire it seems the wire always came out partly shredded.
I purchased one of these probably a year ago, or so

I like it. I have only held it while stripping but it would easily go in a vise. I think the roller blade makes it a somewhat better design than a fixed point blade.
Works well with stranded and solid wire.

I still use a 2x4 ans dry wall screw. That tnt maching place that makes wire strippers is only a couple blocks from where I work. I really should go buy one

Been using this type for years...hooks to electric drill and screw it down to your table.
