As the Administrator (of my web site, not here), I can see where people are from who log onto my website. I get hits from all over the world, but the latest one took me by surprise. I guess it shouldn't have, but someone logging on from DaNang, Viet Nam blew me away (Viet Nam vet - Jan-Dec '68). Anyone from that era should remember Da Nang.

Wow. My old man just read this over my shoulder. He's a Vietnam Vet also, Navy, served in DaNang.
Thats crazy....do they have scrap yards in 'nam?
-
My favorite thing to do when I was deployed, was to try and find the scrap yards. And see how they did business. Nothing like seeing a rickshaw with a load of scrap going down the street in S. Korea.

I don't know about VN, but I suppose so. TheHoss, tell you old man "Hi" for me. I was Army - truck driver, hauling 105 and 155 projo's (mortar shells).
dherik, I was in Korea, too. Uijombu '71 to '72. It was almost as dirty and nasty as VN. I've got pictures of dog meat for sale hanging in open air markets.

Any of you guys (gals) that were "over there", did any of you take any R & R in Bankock Thailand? I was there for 18 months as an MP taking care of the guys that just had to get in trouble ('69-'71). lol Without a weapon, no less. They were outlawed in the city,,,
-
Never took any R&R. Captain once called me to his office and asked me when I was taking my R&R. I told him "When I leave this ---- country, I ain't coming back". He didn't ask me again.

I was there in 99. Didn't get R&R. Didn't take any leave while I was there either, did my job, went back to the barracks and saved all my money. Although I do remember going to a bar, and something about a woman and three colored ping pong balls.
Did take a nice 45 day vacation driving from San Diego to San Antonio when I got stateside though.
