Machined steel value?

Hello all. I cannot post a picture yet but I purchased some gas turbine bearings to use as a fire pit ring. I gambled that there might be some copper in the bearing surface but there was not... Turns out these things are heavy at over 400 lbs each! The sad part is that they are new but I cannot imagine them having a resell value. Apparently they were part of a Navy refit for some of the fast attack ships. I will still probably call Northrup Grumman to see if there is any value other than scrap.

My question is if I scrap them what value should I see? I know prices range for areas but is it worth more than just steel?

Amazing what it once cost to make things but when they are no longer needed have little to no value or reuse.

Roughly $12.50 - $15 each or $.03 x lbs

If I had a good place to safely store them I would consider keeping them. Gas turbines are used in other applications and there is a very unlikely possibility that you could sell them. The prices you could sell them could be fantastic. 73, Mike

Almost any company would never risk the liability in using 2nd hand bearings, especially the military. Even if they are new, Its just too risky. Most likely your best bet is to repurpose or scrap.
