Craigslist ad pays off again

Got a call from a guy yesterday saying he had 3 AC units he needed to get rid of as his landlady was getting on his butt, so naturally I said I can get them out of your way. Turns out he is a self employed HVAC guy, and all three were central units, complete with radiators, copper tubing, etc. One of them was extremely heavy and it took all we had to get it loaded on my truck. He said that since I kept my word on when I would be there, I will be the main go to person for picking more up. He said he should have at least 6 more units in the next 3 weeks, and who know what after that. Not counting what it coming in, I physically have about 10 central units stored on my property I still have to take apart. This has been now about 6 long term contacts I have made from my ad.

Thanks. I just wanted to reinforce that good things can come from craigslist ads, a lot of it has to do with how you word it. Some folks have said they have gotten very little. It actually took a couple of years for me to start getting any really good contacts or replies, I just kept at it since the ads were free.

Congrats on the a/c units, I have been posting on craigslist as well, sometimes I will get really good contacts and the other times really crappy ones, but I am going to keep post my ads to see where it can take me, good luck in building up your contacts.

Craigslist is one of those..You truly have to stay on top if it kind of things. Just posting once every month or so will assure you don't get much if any business. This rule doesn't apply normally if your in a small area tho. Ha!

Anyhow..back to CL. I've always had decent luck with it. I also live on a sandbar so don't have to deal with as much crap to filter out as some of you folks. I expect Hobo out in Tucson, or Sledge in Indy, or Urban down in Florida..an many others have way more BS to wade through then me, or Matador, or NH, or Patriot.

You get out of it what you put into it though. If you slack with CL an don't stay on top of your ads/posts, reply in a timely fashion, it's going to be more miss then hit for you. Between competition, idiots reporting your post cause well...their idiots, an other stuff...posting one time is probably not going to work out well for you. I would never stop using CL, even in a bigger city/market. I wouldn't make it my only source tho either. ;) All your eggs in one basket and all that.

Just another tool in the chest.

also find out if he is willing to work out a deal on reclaiming refrigerant from acs and fridges

I have a regular full time job, so meeting him is not an option. As far as reclaiming goes, I am hoarding my window units (I have about 30) waiting to get a recovery machine and get certified.

On site is the key specialy roof top units crane puts it on your trailer and away you go. Altough it only takes half hour to brake one down

there is one member on here that specializes in that.he has his trailer there before the crane, and markets the time savings. cranes and certified hvac techs are a pretty penny hourly, plus random overhead like insurance

I definitely would do that if I could, but every place I know of that installs those hauls off the old ones for themselves.
