Copper bolts
While at a local yard I noticed one guy that was turning in copper bolts with his other stuff. He didnt know what they were for or any history. I was curious cause they were pretty big. I dont have a pic but the shanks were bigger 1/2 at least and the heads were prolly 3/4 inch to 1 inch. They heads had a infinity symbol on them but that was the only marking. Just curious about what they could have been used for.

not sure there is so many uses for copper bolts nails screws washers and so many other copper parts. from compression washers for engines to bolts for things that may only need a moderate strength bolt something that is going to be hard to get to and not often so that way it holds up so much longer to the elements. as for history if this helps for these size bolts may be used for ships, if you visit boston you will hear the debate how how paul revere was hired to either make or reduce the size of copper bolts used in the building of the uss constitution

I got a load of telcom and had a lot of copper bolts and washers. I one point of processing I had a coffee can full. They were in the cabinets. Some holding bus bars

Are they brass? Red Brass? The threads on a copper bolt would be easily be damaged.

forgot about bus bars lol

Im still a newbie at this scrapping thing so I can't say for sure if it was red brass or not. The seller had ground the heads a little and they looked like a new shiny penny to me.

I find square headed Copper bolts on car battery terminal clamps. Nice little bonus.
